Hi guys! Any plans for a 2023 Hootenany Hang?
I had to miss last year as we had just bought a new house but I won't miss this one for the world!..
If I'm already signed up will that count for the new go time, or are you starting another one at that time?..
so much effort in a really descriptive tale. and not a single paragraph...
yeah I agree with this. if you're in the business of counting grams there's nothing wrong (and a lot right) with that. but while that may be one facet of this issue, it's not the entire issue for, I...
I can respect this but I believe most of these discussions are being had by people who don't have a clue what their baseweight is. unless you're an ultralight hiker (baseweight <10lbs) all this...
oh yeah, this girl can flat out Dutch oven... :boggle:
oh, ok...
why do you say it will fit the XLC better?..
what is the breaking point of LineLoc3? if using a cord with significantly stronger rating, this may be an advantage as I don't think the hookworms would be the point of failure.
don't know how...
what is your baseweight (total carried weight before food and water)?..
yep, got it and replied. thank you.
I don't know what happened. I did the contact us but those things don't always work so I didn't panic.
I then called twice but no answer or way to leave...
I was just up (through) there after the Hootenany Hang. parked in Damascus and got a shuttle to Massie gap and walked back on the AT. gorgeous... magical... it rained a lot...
got me some...
So what is the best way to contact Dutchgear with a problem?
I left a message at the "contact me" address for over a week with no response and then tried to call 2 times the following week and...
load limit 400lbs, breaking strength 1000lbs, who cares? for $5 you can get a real climbing rated biner that holds 5000lbs and only weighs 12grams more.
unless you're an ULTRAlight hiker with a...
I don't see a weight rating n Dutch biners. I use whoopie hooks or if not, I use a climbing rated biner like Metolius FS Mini II. they're 1 gram heavier but smaller and 1 kN stronger than Camp Nano...
yep. remove the split rings, squinch the grosgrain loops through the tab on the Lineloc3 then pass that through the hole in the loop back on itself. mine fit perfect...
I want to second what you said about the craftsmanship and attention to detail. time to ship, at least in my case, beat their estimate so I'm very happy here too.
the split rings, I just took them...
are you responding to my post just above, on the 20* Bandit I just received, or just in general? either way, I guess I wouldn't know unless I had two different quilts on hand to weigh, I'd just have...
I received my 20* UGQ Bandit TQ with 1oz "overstuff", and first impressions are it's beautiful! I got to spend some time talking with Paul and Missy at the Hootenany Hang and he detailed the design...
I'll come out and say I'm biased as I am a user of Just Bill's Luxury/Big-Boy Bridge by Town's End (sheesh that's a mouthful). I am a relative newcomer (2 years) to hammocks after finding myself not...
thanks. I wasn't making a distinction about goose down for any reason than that's how they describe it. I was actually remarking more on the fill power being untreated 850. I've never used higher...
I started this thread because I've seen people ordering quilts from a respected maker and then adding 2, 3, 4 ounces of overstuff. I won't go back over the discussion (thank you to all that replied)...
ok, thanks. I admit a lot of the math went over my head but it did get me to look at previous discussions on this very topic.
as I see it, there's an issue of defining, "fill vs overfill vs...
ok, first, thanks to the two previous answers.
now you say it's mainly as insurance to maintain the rated temp in harsh conditions and after ravages of time, correct?
talking about a 20* TQ,...
So why do 2oz (or more) overstuff? why not just order the next lower temp rated quilt?..
I use Lineloc3's attached to tarp. Guylines are 6ft of Lawson 2mm Glowire with a loop in the end. I drop the loop over the stake and pull taut at the Lineloc...
it wasn't years ago when I led a ride through there but we had a Heritage Classic and Fatboy along and they had no problems...
OMG, a 260lb man wants to get in a hammock with a 260lb woman???
:scared:
does this guy really understand what he's asking for?..
roger that. pm'ing for paypal info now...
that would be a big day. not just the distance but elevation to Hump and Little Hump make it a workout. I'll be looking to do a shorter trip from Carvers Gap to the balds or maybe the Grassy Ridge. ...
do you need donations sent now or can you accept cash when we arrive?..
IMO, there's 3 ways to do this.
you can attach a line to each end of the tarp and secure that to the tree with knots or hardware. this uses the tarp itself as a structural member. you can get a...
Bushwack camo is either 20D or 30D silpoly. I have an Edge in the 20D and it is light but strong. I'm very pleased...
edit. never mind...
got my 20d silpoly Edge in camo. man this is nice...
are we talking UQ (under-quilt) or TQ (top quilt) here? an UQ has nothing to do with bug net...
my 55" UQ covers from shoulders down to my ankles. my 40* EE top quilt, with the bottom zippered,...
actually there's at least four. both of those above plus the kind who have missed their hammock and sat right down to the ground in just the UQ. and those that haven't...
the coldest night I ever spent in my hammock was last June17 hanging behind the Barn at the Overmountain Shelter. never underestimate the effect elevation and humidity can have even in summer...
Woot and Massdrop are not similar other than they are both offer discounts on stuff.
whereas Woot typically gets their stuff from deeply discounted lots from last season or discontinued products,...
registering for an account helps you to track your purchase(s). as far as I know, the only additional info you provide is an email?..
anyway, if they want to flood you with junk, I suspect they...
or weight...
the Superfly has doors. the Cloudburst is square cut, the MJ is hex with Cat cuts...
I somewhat agree. the problems people have with releasing WB buckles doesn't require much more expertise than say, adjusting or releasing tension from a whoopie sling. it's mostly a matter of...
only the size and country of origin. if you can believe it, Costco uses 700 fill down...
personally, I think being able to hang tarp higher with the same lateral coverage as a benefit. I like being able to get underneath without having to go all hobbit in there. especially in porch-mode,...
apologies if I sounded hostile, not my intent. I was getting frustrated (thank you Dakotaross) by people confusing hammock length and ridgeline differential with tarp ridgeline length.
...
nah, but a poly Edge or Superfly would fit in there pretty well...
when did you get it? that should tell you a lot if it's nylon or poly...
get both. whoopies with whoopie hooks for weight and lack of stretch. straps and buckles for tree spacing and ease of use...
