Thanks for the input!
As the title says I am looking at upgrading my ENO Profly tarp, I understand there are many better tarps out there but I'm looking to upgrade what I have until I can afford another tarp. I made my...
Great offer but I'm camping with the Boy Scouts that weekend.
I've been camping at Limekiln on and off since I was a kid and my understanding was that the islands were public lands.
Welcome from the Finger Lakes! I tend to roll around a bit in bed and on the ground as well, but I have no issues being a back sleeper in my hammock. As for the cold butt, I camp year round with my...
I hammock camp with my sons Scout troop both with and without a net. It really depends on the temps and how buggy the area we are camping is as to whether I use it. I have sprayed most of my gear...
Robert H Treman is very hammock friendly. I have hung there multiple times over the last couple years in sites 15-18.
I also use an ENO DN and I use an Arrowhead Equipment UQ for cooler temps and homemade CostCo UQ or a PLUQ for warmer temps. My AHE quilt is a 3-season New River and I have a matching 3-season Top...
I can't speak for the pads themselves, but I have a Teton Sports Explorer 4000 pack that I have been very happy with and their customer service has been great as well. I would definitely be...
Just placed my order and can't wait. I've been putting this off for too long now and finally bit the bullet.
One 3S New River UQ and One 3S White Cloud TQ!
Hey Preacher,
I can't make the trip, but I am literally right down the road from you in Palmyra. Love the Interloken Trail, hopefully I can catch up with you on the next one.

For me it really depends on the area I am in and the weather. I rarely will use a bug net unless I am in an area that is pretty infested.
I've been down to 28* with the quilts with a PLUQ added to the bottom and a fleece blanket on top....I was not toasty warm, but stayed warm enough to sleep. I don't recommend going that low if you...
WOW, how small this world can be always amazes me! Welcome neighbor, I'm about 10 minutes down the road in Palmyra. I also have been hanging for just over a year with an ENO DN.
Welcome from the Finger Lakes Region.
Wife and I are both originally from Rochester and relocated to NOVA for about 10 years. Decided this area was a better place to raise a family.
Welcome from a northern neighbor and former DC area resident! I love Ithaca and visit several times a year with the family.
Welcome from the Finger Lakes!!
This trail is on my to-do list for this summer. Thanks for sharing!
Welcome from the Finger Lakes Region!
I own 5 kilts, but have never tried hiking in them
Thanks for the heads up as I missed this deal the last time.
Sharing this with a couple newbie friends of mine....
Thanks for doing what you do!
I'm hitting a local Wildlife Management Area with some of the younger scouts in my troop. We'll be introducing them to some entry level backpacking, bear, fire and ax/saw safety and making them do...
I did and I see the narrow dry ground, but I don't understand the concern. I have the same setup and while a wider tarp would be nice, if the rain is other than straight down I simply lower the tarp...
I guess I don't understand what you are asking?
Interesting. I've been using an ENO DN with Atlas Straps for a year now and never had this issue. Good luck on finding a resolution.
I left mine as is and I have no complaints however I have not compared it to one that has been seem ripped.
I have this as well and I like it. Makes a great "nightstand" while hanging too.
Welcome from the Finger Lakes Region!
I keep my Costco DIY quilts folded in the top of a bathroom linen closet. I'd prefer to hang them in the basement, but my basement has too much moisture to consider that an option.
Black Watch would be great! I really have no preference, I'd purchase just about any tartan. The pic is the Scottish National Tartan (one of my 5 kilts )
I love the plaid and paisley ideas, but if I got to choose, I would love to see something in a Scottish Tartan

x2 for the Turtle Dog stand. Less than $60 in materials from Lowe's.
I use an ENO One Link system with the DoubleNest and while I know their are better and more comfortable options out there, for now it works very well for me. Don't stay home because what you have...
We are the complete opposite. Our troop leadership is hardcore; we have a troop trailer and we set up a pretty cushy camp kitchen but they are all tents or even just a sleeping tarp. There are two of...
Looks like a great trip. My majority of the leadership in my sons troop is anti-hammock for now, but I'm working on them.
OMG!!! Now I have to clean coffee from my keyboard!
Welcome from the Finger Lakes!
Nice! I have been looking at the Dutch Hammocks as an upgrade from my existing ENO DN. Even the heavier of your setups is 1/2 what my ENO system weighs.
I would so be in for a plaid....any plaid/tartan but would love a Scottish National so as to match my favorite kilt (I have 5)
x2 - this would be a great option.
looks like another great trip. Someday I hope to join you guys! Thanks for sharing.
For car camping I use a 5x8 indoor/outdoor carpet (cut in half) that I picked up from Home Depot. It works great as a front mat for a tent as well when family camping too.
I haven't really done any...
I'll definitely have to keep this in mind!
Very cool Crossover Gift idea!
We have started an itinerary of sorts and have decided to keep things between 8-10 miles a day. We are looking at starting near Hammondsport and finishing up at Robert H. Treman State Park in Ithaca....
My favorite episode so far! I enjoyed the longer length as well.
Welcome from the Finger Lakes region! Also a Scouter and Jeeper! Currently rebuilding a '91 YJ in the garage!
