Added some more detail and updated the gear list, what didn't work etc
Had some free time Saturday so decided to do an overnight in Harriman since:
a. I only live 20 mins away
b. I had never been there
GEAR LIST
I'll start with the gear:
Hammock: 126"x60"...
You should also check out Round Valley.
It's a "wilderness" camping area since you can't car camp and have to hike in/boat in to your campsite.

Good point. I probably should have clarified that I use shockcord at the head/foot end to attach the UQ to the hammock suspension. I use the paracord at the center loops and then toss that over the...
Since I just bought the new model, what was the main difference between the new and old model?
So just finished turning the poly throw into an underquilt and the down throw into a topquilt.
Couple design notes:
-I ended up not cutting the poly throw as I wanted the extra width
-I don't...
The down one comes in at 750g/26.4oz
For reference, here are some other weights:
-Poncho Liner 700g/24oz
-AHE New River Long 910g/32oz
Just orderd one of the polyester throws and the down throws. Will probably make the poly into an underquilt and the down into a top quilt.
And here you go:

I was thinking to make a 2x2 SPE that is is 36" long and has four 18" x ~5" sleeves with a 19" or 20"...

Thanks everyone.
Decided to try Round Valley this weekend (Fri night through Sunday morning). Feel free to stop by if anyone is going to be around.
I've had a lot of success using the ink cartridge of a pen for splicing.
I tape the Amsteel 7/64 to the end so it's one "continuous" piece and then just O just push it through. Hardest part is...
Hello everyone,
I'm looking for recommendations for a hammock friendly site that would fulfill the following constraints:
-4-6 mile hike to campsite
-Good for group of 4-10
-<2 hours from NYC...
Washed a 90x132 and 60x126 on cold together with nothing else in the washing machine with a little detergent and then just hung them up to air dry. They will dry super fast as a. the fabric is...
No threads are hanging out of the fabric. It looks more like the threads are shifted away from where they normally would be.
So I've been using one of the Table Cloth Factory 60" x 126" crinkle taffeta hammocks and I've noticed a couple spots that look like the attached image.
Is this normal aka just threads shifting or...
Well, the closet frame/jamb is made out of metal and the hinges themselves are pretty beefy. That coupled with the fact that the drywall is two layers of 3/4" drywall helps a lot.
That being said,...
Hello all,
So first time post and here are the details:
-Two layer hammock made out of ripstop nylon. Made it for a wilderness white water rafting/camping trip back in 2010
-Full size is about...
