Hammock Gear Phoenix 20 Underquilt.
Colors: Moroccan Blue (Outer) & Black (Inner)
Purchased new in 2017. The under quilt is in good condition...no stains, rips or holes. The under quilt was not...
The big main area is about 25-30 litres...Though I may increase that by 10-15% on this year's pack that I am getting ready to order supplies for.... I am pretty tall (6'5") and would like a more...

Sorry for the late reply, I didn't get the notification :(
Food:
I do not bring it into my hammock with me at night, but rather use a bag that is odor proof. After using Loksaks...

Nice to see that small but not insignificant tweaks have helped your setups.
I find myself not moving too much during the night either, as opposed to bed or inflatable mattress on the ground...
Thanks Recalc!

Thanks - yeah, a couple small changes: masks, as well as more hand sanitizer than normal. Also, I don't know how much restaurant time we will get. I assume, not too much. We may do more on trail...
I have noticed that in the last couple months, I wake up in the morning with an upset gut.
Now I typically have to head for the morning constitutional first thing, but I think part of my arm...
Hey All - my wife and I will be headed out on the Continental Divide Trail next week.
Our plan is to thru hike the CDT beginning in southern Montana walking north to Canada and then flipping back...
I used to build mine out of 1.0/1.1 and have edged slightly higher with some of the changes and discontinuations at RSBTR.
I have about 50 nights in the Mountain 1.3 from RSBTR and really like...
SOLD Pending receipt of payment
Let me know your zipcode, and I can figure out how much extra it would be.
850, I believe. Receipt from Hammock Gear doesn't specify, but I believe that is what they have used as standard for several years.

Hammock Gear Phoenix 20 Underquilt.
Colors: Black (Outer) & Moroccan Blue (Inner)
Purchased new in 2017 (but used only one season). The underquilt is in excellent condition...no...
Excellent! Indeed quilts are expensive. I believe that, with proper packing, you shouldn't get any messes. I would think that this method should be easier on our down gear in general since it isn't...
Ah...right on. My wife had a Gorilla in 2011 for our first hike (AT). it was a decent pack. I think they have changed beyond recognizability since then.
Actually, no. My food is in a ziplock bag. It is double wrapped essentially. The food is in its packaging from the manufacturer, whether it is a Knorr Side or Larabar or whatever. A day's worth...
Nice...what pack?
Something that has helped me is to ditch the stuff sacks to nearly everything. Years ago, I had played around with a single stuff sack for both quilts, and my hammock. That was OK, but difficult to...
Agreed on the external storage. My wife and I have been folding our cuben tarps for 8 years now with no issues. They pack flat and take up very little space.
Quickly cranking out the hammock...
I don't blame you one bit. I am a side sleeper as well.. The foam pad gets me by, but I don't love it. Carrying the small Neo Air is not a bad idea.
Have you used it under your legs for cool...
That is great news...even in the basin? Hot d*mn! Thanks!
In a general way, the hammock tarp has performed better hung for a hammock...IF, I am hammocking...I am off the ground, ridgeline is connected to trees....I stay drier So...and maybe this is getting...
Thanks for posting this.
South of Chama, it looks like you went to ground for the remainder of the hike. Having gone through NM, do you think you could have hammocked some/most/all of it?
Thankfully, not a ton of bad weather with just the hammock tarp....Just a few times. One spot in the 30 mile, above treeline, section of the Colorado Trail it was fairly exposed with strong winds...
I think I had read somewhere that Shrewd (my apologies if I am confusing with someone else) went to ground a bit more because of wanting to hang with other hikers. That will definitely influence...
2012 - Indeed there was. We wanted to do miles and just got some food, the hammock and rolled on.
2016 - No rave. But stayed the night and played some table tennis and pool.
I've had a solid ration of both hammock and ground sleeping. Probably a 70/30 ratio of Hammock to Ground over 12K of thru hiking miles.
I prefer hammocking to a bed in general. Like you, the AT...
Anyone on here that has hiked the Continental Divide Trail - CDT?
I am planning on thru-hiking the CDT beginning in April and am curious about hammock hangs (or lack of) on the CDT, particularly...
Selling my wife's gently used Phoenix 20 Degree Underquilt. She only used it for a four week hike of the Colorado Trail. She never uses stuff sacks while hiking and always stores the UQ in the...
Ha! and Heck No! Maybe Shug for Prez?
Have a great trip up there. The Cascades are pretty incredible! Drop me a line if you have any questions.
I think this may be one of the most entertaining posts I have read in some time.
I tend to agree with Shrewd to a great extent about The Trek and with many others regarding the YT content creators...
Nice El Gordo...that made me laugh :)
I went toggle-less for quite some time actually (about 30 nights on our Mississippi River Thru-Canoe in 2017), using a J Bend, and really liked it. That was...
Thanks to all for your thoughts on this! I love how HF works and the sharing that a simple question like this can bring out :)
Thanks for the offer MikekiM - roughly, what would say the diameter of the shephard stakes is? I have used a few different ones over the years.
My gut feeling is that the webbing, being so light weight, folds in on itself significantly.
I have only used the UHWMPE for about 80 hangs but it is pretty darn supple....and it started out...
I wish the solution were as easy as that. I seat (Bury) the loop on the knot. Fortunately, I got in that habit about 500 hangs ago.

For sure...definitely not hanging on the toggle itself. Danger!
Watching your vid reminded how flat/wide the other strap types stay...hmm..will think on that a bit.
Hi All - I have been using the UHWMPE straps for a bit and have had some toggle crimping issues. While I am pushing 200lbs, I don't believe it is my weight causing the issue, as a friend who is well...
Hammocking is easily do-able north of Kennedy Meadows. South of KM, you may have to go to ground a few times, though I know some people have found a hang every night of their PCT hike.
My...
No worries. Happy to help.

Indeed it was. We ran into a couple guys who had done grizzly research up in Alaska and showed them the video - they were pretty sure it was a grizzly.

Hey All,
My wife and I just wrapped up a hike of the Great Divide Trail. I am not sure if any one has used a hammock in this past on this trail. We hammocked every night of the five week hike and...
Awesome! Congrats!

Hi Folks - SweetPea and I just headed out on the Grand Enchantment Trail on April 5th. While we are not hammocking this trail (largely desert trail) - we are paying attention for hanging sites, and...
Yes! I wish I had done this. Sorry to you guys that I didn't.
