I'll bump this to see if anything else surfaces....
I fully acknowledge "Inexpensive" and "Underquilt" going together is somewhat of an oxymoron...
Just looking for some options for loanable gear...
Guessing that this is a long shot - but worth posting up to see what type of responses I get.
I am a scoutmaster for my daughter's Scout BSA troop (T2019, Fairport NY).
As the scouts see me hang...
Sorry about that... Fixed
I'll take it: Warbonnet Superfly tarp
Out of curiosity, how long is it?
I'll take it....
Scout Troop mostly car camps, and I expect it would be either a useful spare bag (should a scout be under-prepared) - or a good project base to convert to an underquilt. (For our...

I have seen it done, and picked up a slackline to give it a try, as a couple of sites I have camped with my scouts had trees ~ 50' apart
I haven't hung from it yet.
My plan was to use a prusik...

Not sure about amsteel, but have heard of this being done from a slackline.
I have toyed with trying it when I next want to hand somewhere with trees too far apart for my normal suspension.

I have some cotton string... maybe 6" long 1/8" diameter that I tie onto my continuous loops.
In the event that water does get that far, the cotton is more absorbent than the Amsteel- so the...
If that falls through, let me know.

But I haven't gotten to try anything with a zippered one

Sacrifice a few inches on one end and make a cut....
You should be able to tell if the fibers are amsteel
Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
In my case, I use a ~6in long , 16th inch diameter cotton string tied to that point.
As the cotton is more absorbent- it does a great job at wicking the water in the correct direction, and...
I have long connected my Whoopi to the continuous loop that way (larkshead).
No downside that I have found

If I was concerned, it would be compressive forces as the feet are likely not anchored.
Depending on where you are planning to hang, you could add a beam that you hand from just so that there is...
On the off chance that the 20° falls through, interested

Misread that earlier...
Some TLC can fix it....
Having something like a small knitting needle might be helpful.
You will need to loosen the outer part of the splice to pull it back...
Is the bead still doing its job to keep the loop open a smidge? (Or did it get sucked into the splice)

I weight about 175lbs, but have tested it to 300lbs.
I would need to dig it out to be 100% sure - but pretty sure that I went with 3/8 inch stainless steel. It is likely overkill - but thought...
I used eye bolts for my setup- and no issues so far

Thanks for the video.
I've used a military mast version of a tensa many times - but the video gave a much better glimpe at just how much smaller the commercial one breaks down.
