Easter weekend might not be the best choice. Just sayin'.
Beautiful photos. You have an eye for finding beauty. Welcome from Connecticut, USA.
Those pillars are pretty big. You would need some very long straps.:)
Looking forward to making some more bacon related snacks for the fall hang. I think the candied pecan bacon bark will be repeated. Can't go wrong with bacon, pecans, and chocolate.
Missed not seeing you and Jenna. Will you be able to come to the fall hang?
Hi Amy. May be able to get water at the family campground where the showers are.
Heaven knows what you will come across while hiking and hanging. I guess knowing just where you are and what is around is first. Get that in your head first.Monkeys? So what? Second is do not let...
Will mark my calendar.
Depending on the conversation I have also been known as the chicken listener. lol.
Yes, I will be there. Should be great fun.
I had a raccoon under me one night trying to shred one of my boots. Hit the bottom of my hammock and woke me up. I slapped the side of my hammock and he ran while dropping my boot. A couple of holes...
Very interested.
I had an old wind chime made of different lengths of 1/2" aluminum tubing that I used to make some great toggles. They weigh almost nothing. I cut the 6" one and the 7" one in half, sanded down any...
Just last night I slept out in my back yard right on the edge of the woods. I heard something shuffling in the leaves down hill from me but fell asleep thinking it was an acorn eating animal. I had a...
Funny, last night I got a nice fire going in the wood stove and by nine o'clock I had to step out on the deck as it was just too warm for me (about 70). When I got out there the moon was shining and...
I like a Terra Nova tarp. Lots of sizes and not too heavy.
Wow! I spent last night with a new down pillow from hammock gear. It was perfect. For me it seemed to always be a struggle to stay diagonal with a pillow pushing back against the side of my hammock....
I like that!
How can you keep your nose warm without getting moisture build up on your TQ? I slept out last night in my back yard and woke up twice with a very cold nose. It was 29 degrees this morning when I got...
To tell you the truth, just a day ago as I walked back to my camp I was thinking if it were possible to meet up with you guys in my neck of the woods. For now, just a pipe dream, but who knows what...
I will tell you, I had a hard time getting in my car and driving away from that beautiful place. But just to know that I can walk into the woods in my own back yard made it a bit easier. As a matter...
Thank you so much Dave. You humble me.
Pat
The hell you say! I saw no such thing. Nor did I see anything like mead. No, not at all.
After the wonderful MAHHA event I traveled south to the other end of the Michaux State Forest for a three night hang. There is a very large reservoir and some great trails. I hung next to Birch Run,...
I did a quick fix for a sagging ridge line before I figured out what was wrong.138706 I finally figured out the closer together the trees the lower the straps have to be.
Ok, so who is who? I know that I am not great with names but when you have two names I panic!
Just cannot get anything past you. Tarp as a shack!
I would like to thank Ed Lee, Bigfoot, Perrito, Calabreth, and those special others that were there on Thursday night for the warm welcome and making me feel so at home with all of you. My problem is...
I am going from NE CT and it is about 7 hours with traffic. I am taking 84 to 81 to avoid 91 and 95. I drove there last March and it was about 6.5 hours on a Sunday with light traffic.
I hope to get there around four or so. It is close to 400 miles so traffic (CT is terrible) will play a role.
Wow! I have not checked in since maybe August and cannot believe how many people are coming. This is my first group hang and I wonder, is this the norm? I have allot of cooking to do. I had no idea....
I use the woven plastic bag from 50 lbs of chicken feed. I just cut it open to lay flat and it is free. I also get to see those pretty little chicken faces when I am on the trail.
I can hardly wait for the video. I just hope I can apply and make it happen without a limp:). So glad you and Hick enjoyed the Nutty Crunchers.
I am from CT and wanted to get to the NH hang but got caught up in work. Welcome from the Nutmeg state.
For some reason I missed the main topic of the multiple uses of poles or spreaders. I had to laugh/wince with my first glance of all the strings and things on your pole. It reminded me of the...
Here is Lonnie's idea on how to hang a hammock with no trees available. Pretty cool idea.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIvTeFZB-PA
You say tomato, I say tomahto. You say potato, I say potahto. Let's just go out and hang.
I have gone through the ups, downs (yes pun intended), over and unders(omgosh, another pun) of the weight of the gadgets of hammock hanging from tarps to straps to whoopie slings, to bug nets, to...
I am taking a ten year old boy and his mom on a short hike (three miles) and an overnight hang in two weeks. I got his mom to spend one night in my old eno single at my house and it was the best...
I have a few concerns about stealth hanging. I have seen such unfriendly responses to people that stealth camp with a tent, I wondered about stealth hanging. I read of a tent camper that found the...
Spent last night in my new living room furnishings with great success. I now have to figure out how to get out of the hammock when there is a 55 pound dog spread out at my feet under the same fan....
Me thinks you have no idea. It would be the best time ever.
Oh, now that is just not right. I am not sure which is worse this or watching you and Hickery blowing pork products out your noses.
But, Oh so right as well! Nothing beats Shug's videos for learning and perspective. I love his perspective more than most hangers. Nothing wrong with enjoying what God gave us to the max. I love to...
Reading this thread has inspired me to hang in my living room. 135192

I have an Eno that I really don't use much anymore and was able to hang it under my ceiling fan. It...
I have found that hiking and hanging alone has it merits but would love to meet up with others in CT, MA, or RI for some time on the trails. It seems that there are few people around me that want to...
I like snake skins and a separate stuff sack that I keep close to the top of my pack. That way if I get caught in a storm I can get to the tarp fast. I keep my stakes in an outer pocket of my pack...
I had a friend of my sister spend a night in a hammock in June and asked her if she and her son, who I have not seen in years, around 10, would like to do a short overnight of hiking and hanging. She...
I used my eno single, a home made bug net and a greylock3 UQ. Have since upgraded to a blackbird. 134075134076134077134074
How about freezing your water bottle and put it in a plastic bag to stay dry?
