I actually did with two identical premium quilts but just to change colors. I know. That's messed up.

I think I solved the cold toes issue. Just smash every toe with a log before bed.
Last night I was riding my bike and reached down to try and grab a piece of tape off the rim...BOOM! Caught my...
I'm also addicted to Extra Toasty Cheez-Its and Good & Plenty. Coke (the drink) used to be on the list but I've since kicked that unless I'm eating out at a restaurant.
Coffee, don't even try to...
I just patched a hole in my hot tent from an ember. Literally the size of sharp pencil tip. Now I'm looking to reseal my kayak skirt since the tape is dried and flaky. Awhile back I used some on a...
That's all I've ever used, but also effectively threw away 4 nearly-full tubes now. I can sometimes get a second use by piercing the tube itself after the main hole gets clogged.
A .25oz tube or...
I'll try that next time. Even if I can get a few good uses it's better than nothing.
I've seen that on some Amazon reviews but never tried it. I believe it was for Seam Grip. Do you thaw it out? Or does it never freeze solid?
I thought about that. Likely my best option after a little more searching. Maybe a bulk deal without the patch material.
Yeah still all too costly. I can get a nice tube of GE for $3.77 https://www.amazon.com/GE-GE500-Silicone-Window-Squeeze/dp/B000M2UPAG/
But I think that's the stuff you have to thin out?

My addiction was slowed for a while but apparently not stopped completely. Just pulled the trigger on a 40° Econ Incubator as my nightly sleeper. It may sound OCD-ish but I don't like using my good...
Every time I need to seam seal something, I throw away about 98% of the tube since it dries up. Then I never have any when I need it and have to make a trip out.
Is there any supplier that sells...
I've had 5 Warbonnet tarps since 2012. Always done the outside like you did here. Pretty clean job and can hardly tell even close up like this.
I like to prevent water from getting into the thread...
I used the Coolmax on a summer trip since lows were barely into the 70s. I found it really easy, but on its own with no quilt.
Just pull it up over yourself like a TQ. To get it the rest of the...

Just looking to see if anyone has one to unload. I'm wanting to use one as a nightly indoor sleeper and "save" my others for actual trips.
40°
Standard length
Any fill amount
I'm typically...
CLEAN! You hear "function over form" often, but sometimes good aesthetics just make you feel good :)
I'm looking forward to seeing how it holds up.
And I like how you didn't sew the full "X" on...
In addition to all this, I would also recommend recording some video of the foot end. Set up your phone, hit record, get in the hammock, and move around like you normally would getting ready to...
Whew...25 shades of black. I think they have it covered!
I was watching an Apollo documentary last night and saw this photo:

They call the UQ "Hammock Insulator". You can also see "Velcro...
That's the frustrating thing. I still have no idea. I just cross my fingers and hope for the best. I seem to be good 9/10 times lately.
Ahh I'd need to double up face masks to block that moon! But I'm also the guy that puts black electrical tape over that small green light on some AC adapters.
Absolutely. A few years ago I bought an extra wide, 12' tarp to "block all the wind". I certainly achieved that....along with containing every single breath I exhaled in the moist winter night. It...
It's an odd thing. I remember two trips on back to back weekends where I got so frustrated I left (3hr drive home). I purchased an identical quilt, only 11' instead of my usual 10'. And the UQ just...
Waking up cold and hoping it's at least 5:30am...but you look at your watch and see 12:28am. Total heart breaker!
The tent is a Smokehouse Outfitter I. Just a one-man show. He doesn't post here much but you can find his info searching on youtube. The Pomoly stove is at pomoly.com. Unfortunately the price...
LOL! It's about a 4hr drive so I got to the lot by 8PM. Set up and burning by about 10:30PM. I do like seeing daylight more and more each night. I just hope we get some more snow before winter is...
I guess you could, but certainly wouldn't want to. It doesn't track like a sled and you want this well away from you as it's moving. You don't really "become one" with it like a small sled. It's...
I used their 1/4 basting tape and got sticky after just a few inches. No issues, but I'll have to watch it after some more use.
When you say roll it once, you mean just lie flat? Or actually roll...
I'll be doing a lot of that flat felled soon. Looks like a real SOB on long runs.
It's a good time, but by the end of winter I'm ready for a quick and easy backpacking load. Regarding clean gear, I'll admit I'm the guy that wipes each stake clean with moss while packing up.
...
Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean about the pulk/toboggan.
Toggles, knots, clips, loops, CRL, biners, ahh!
Keep it simple by attaching a ~8' line "permanently" to each end of the tarp. Keep one Tarp Flyz on each line. Go around the tree and tighten each...
I really debated posting this here. I never got into youtube or shooting video much; all I have is an iphone 8. And with facebook, forums, etc. the world is getting pretty small. Kinda freaks me out...
Yeah I don't understand why people do what they do. Here's a collage of pics I took years ago at a place I won't even mention due to gross overuse already (USFS is part to blame). These were taken...
I love that gray. Looks like my Charcoal Gray Winter Haven tarp.
A little more "bluish" but could be the light.

Not sure if this would help the tension issue, but I was sewing some last night and decided to use the reinforced straight stitch. Three lines end to end spaced about 1/4" and it's solid. It's easy...
One month into a shipment now. Getting worried.
The tree does save some line. I don't carry much. But if the tree is a big diameter, then you screwed yourself.
Here's a typical setup for me, about 14-15' spacing. Maybe I'll start taking eye...
Even at a 15' distance, that doesn't leave me with enough room to get a stake. The trunk/roots won't allow. Staking to the side gives it a dirty sloppy setup. So I just wrap around the tree.
Dec 8 from an ebay seller, still nothing. But thanks for the info, gives me some hope! Not worried because of insurance, but just getting impatient.
I'd get some government cheese and park that baby down by the river.
Yeah I was camping the Gaylord area a few days ago, about 5". Enough to feel like winter and pull the toboggan so that was nice. Need to get that lake effect machine going!
I don't know what's going on. The last "good winter" I remember was 2014. Sure, locals can say "the other day it was 2° for a high", but the consistency just isn't there. I used to pick a day on the...
LOL!!! "Developed recreation site" to me is a place best avoided at all costs.
I'm pretty sure I disturb all trees and shrubs every time I pee on them. I better start bottling it up.
No kidding! I can't nail two boards together.
Level: next
After dealing with these quite a bit on my hot tent, I would not be afraid to make my own for a tarp as long as I knew how long they should be. Very easy to cut and make yourself.
December 22 shown in that image was the first update since the 14th, so I kind of gave up. But it's insured so I'm not too worried.
