Sorry for the weird picture, uploaded to show...
Here is an Expedition hammock with some snake skins. I purchased the hammock off BPL with the snake skins torn on one end and I patched with some tape. It has the velcro center opening.

What do you think is your fastest time going from pack on to Tarp/Hammock/Underquilt deployed?
I feel like I need to practice more. It takes me 20 minutes.
Videos for proof and fastest time...
Looks amazing, can't wait to see the video. I shamefully have never heard of this trail. Definitely on the to do list.
Wow, that looks great!
How much do you charge for room, board and shuttle? :boggle:
So here's a weird question. In my experience at the hot springs where I am from, there is a lot of public nudity.
Is that a general theme with hot springs, or just the one I am familiar with?
Lol, nice comparison. I certainly know what that sounds like!
I'll try and make a go of it next year. I'm thinking Toketee to White Mule maybe?
Mott is a great section. There is a little camp site about 1/8th mi east of the TH that is just off the trail that I try and plan my trips around. Very plush and cleared ground, but out of view from...
Thanks for the link! Until they come out with a bridge that will coincide with my goals to be ultralight, I think a pillow might be the way to go for me.
I would be interested in any version of the Borah Bivvies. Especially if it is the argon top
No under quilt necessary though... :shades:
I might be a bit more picky than I thought. I am definitely interested in a mesh screen on the face as I am freaked out by things crawling in my bag on on my face. I'd like to be fully enclosed I...
I'm using a 10ft DH Darien UL. Really liked the simplicity of and weight of it so bridge hammock might not really be what I was shooting for.
I was thinking of a pool noodle, but cant really think...
Thanks for the responses. I don't consider myself a "wide" person, but I might order the wide version from HG, to kind help tuck under me. That the idea?
I ended up with a few yards of this. Think Frogg Toggs or Dri Ducks type material. Anyone used it for anything DIY?
Haha very clever!
Panorama looks great! They should make that a national park
Wow, those things can get some amazing shots.
Are they pretty loud for other hikers in the area?
Nice looking trail and camp spot, looks very relaxing. Thanks for posting the maps
Looks like an awesome hang, great view.
Love the duct taped shoe!
Does anyone have experience with the 1443R Tyvek? Would It work for this?
I've have pretty bad knees, and I struggle with the hyper extension whilst hammocking.
I try crossing my legs with the under one slightly bent, then switch off and on.
Putting clothes under my...
Need to find a neighborhood kid who is tired of mowing lawns and pay them by the hour!
That's really cool. I would LOVE a video of how you set that up!
I've only been able to hand 40 with my CCF, I was using a 40 degree topquilt though, maybe that was it!
Kamahayak!
Nice pics, it's great camping above rocks!
I use the blue walmart CCF to the low 40's comfortably.
I'm looking to try out something new for me! I really like the idea of being able to hike until dark, throw down the bivy/bag and sleep.
Anyone have a bivy/tarp combo they don't use since...
Hrmm, seems like they would be pretty cold. Checked the DIY section and there a lots of mods though!
I WISH I could sleep on my back in hammock. I use a DH Darien hammock and sleep on my side. As long as I make sure my UQ is properly set-up (I tend to over tension it) then I do alright. Definitely...
I'll be doing a couple hundred miles of it in Oregon in my DH Darien
I take a pair of DIY camp shoes.
Huarache made out of paracord and a foam anti fatigue mat from Harbor Frieght
That's awesome! Very cool to have a good chance at re-employment after your sojourn
Interested in a Fenix PD35?
Did anyone try this? Pictures? :)
I was planning on selling my Hex tarp as I find myself going to the ground more often than not and buying a Zpacks 6 x 9 rectangle for kind of dual purpose tarp.
Hey all just got back from the North Umpqua Trail out of Roseburg/Glide Oregon.
I hiked before the rains came, but there were some closures that were not listed on the NUT website. They are...
Is there a difference?
I've heard some quilts are better for the ground and some better for the hammock.
I've heard sewn in better for hammock and snap for the ground so you can use it as a...
Echoing the other statements, UQ all the way for comfort and ease of use, BUT you really cant beat the CCF for the money and the weight.
I never much cared for the inflatables.
I use a big cheap polyester laundry bag.
I only say this because I have first hand experience... make sure the shop vac is empty first :scared:
Luckily there was a porta potty that had like 6 half used rolls of the "finest" tp money can buy!
I was day one on a 5 day trip and noticed I had not restocked my supply of toilet paper from the last trip :/
I was dubbed cloudfoot after doing a multi day hike in really thin shoes I was "stepping so gingerly it was like I was trying to walk on clouds"
Nice, I'll use this instead of the taut line in some instances. Long live quick release
What temp would you use this in?
