OK, I'm open to the idea of a double layer (never used or made one before)
My regular rides are 1.6oz (both hyper-D and Hexon), I've used 1oz hammocks in both materials, and they have both let me...
Asking for recommendations for a hammock material, needs to be downproof. Need something like Hexon 1.6 or HyperD 1.6, used those before with great success. Not so lucky with the same fabrics in 1.0...
I have only got stuff from wish eBay and amazon and never had anything like that [/QUOTE]
Right, let's straighten things out here.
Under £15 (including shipping) you pay nothing extra.
Over £15...
13‘ and 17', then you have a bigger one for the bigger tree.

Soften it up with a mallet.
I always pitch with the head end low and the foot end high enough to walk in.
The reason for this -
I try to pitch with the head end facing into wind and with the doors at that end closed, so by...
He's been banned. Both his old Jeff Myers and his Myerstech handle.
He's not the messiah, he's a very naughty boy!
I'm sure I was talking to someone on a thread somewhere about the differences between the two ripstop grid patterns, but I'm darned if I can find it now. So I'll put this here...
First off Hexon...
I have been using S/S KOLAs for hammock suspension since 2014. The only failure I've had was user induced and no equipment was damaged (and won me a first prize in the Hammock Fail Awards... video...
I use Gutermann Mara 70.
Originally did faux bar tacks, using a wide zigzag stitch (back and forth, several times).
I now do lines of stitching along the length in a long zigzag,...
Keep at it fella, you'll dial in the magic. Hoping to get back to Scotland again this year, but may have to slum it in Wales.
Feel free to pop over to the UK forum and say hello,...
My collie is usually waaay too wet and muddy to come anywhere near my hammock and quilts!!

Alright for you lightweights!
My 92kg causes flicklocks to slide (fixed by using dowel rods inside the pole sections).
Always interested in that. Did you get damp when ground sleeping on a pad, or just in the hammock? If not, what (do you think) causes it in a hammock but not on the ground?
PM me if you want to compare notes
If only summit camping were easy in a hammock!

I think the fees from Canada will be much the same as for the US.
That is
no fees for orders under £15 (including shipping),
VAT@20% plus a £10 handling charge for goods over a value (plus...
I had a an offcut of ripstop from a kite I made in 1988 that I made into a sit-hanmock.
So that's 30 years!
Polyester is less stretchy than polyprop, stronger too. But polyprop is the cheapest, as long as you can live with the stretch and thicker webbing (not nearly as stretchy as nylon tho).
Each 3/4" faux baffle will steal 2" from the width.
Let me break that down, look at this illustration,

Anyone else having an issue with Tapatalk?
Been getting "server error" and no updates to HF since this happened.
(All my other fora on Tapa talk are working)
Yeh, my regular suspension is the Spiderweb 1.5 now, with loop aliens.
My friend uses it with a Becket hitch, but I prefer the quick micro-adjustability of the aliens... And I'll suck up the 10g...
it's more like 6oz of 700 fill down (some are filled a bit more).
You can get 700 fill on AliExpress for $40/pound.
(but I guess you do get a few metres of downproof polyester too)
Err... I think you just quoted my final verdict!! [emoji4]
If you want the best insulation for the least weight, then it's worth doing the work. But if you are less concerned about weight saving,...
Pop over to the UK Hammock forum and say hi there too,

Might see you in a wood, if you make it down to the south west.
Interested... why do you need your tap level?
I usually have my tarp sloping down towards the head end. That way I can pitch it low enough to block the wind, but have it high enough at the foot end...

Animated knots do three flavours of softshackle,
Soft Shackle

Soft Shackle Edwards
https://www.animatedknots.com/softshackleedwards/index.php...
Stretch is a function of load. The higher the load, the greater the stretch.
For a given weight, load will increase with a flatter suspension. Slackening your suspension will decrease stretch....
That was Fur Tor.
Yours? Heckwood Tor?
What do you suspend from?
The force on one side of the deviation point will equal the force on the other. So, if your regular suspension had a break strain of over 1000lb, then any extension should...
A deviation point isn't an S&M hotspot! Just a trade term for anything that changes the direction of a line under tension.
I toyed with the idea of using a bike as a stand, when I first got into...
I don't think he was suggesting using as a anchor point, but as a deviation point.
There is nothing wrong with the idea, as long as you treat it in the same way as a monopole (or rather a bipod on...

This seems a fairly common practice amongst Chinese hammock manufacturers. They've gotta trim their margins somewhere, it's a struggle to pump out hammocks for $5 a piece. Hence, cutting them short,...

I got a cheap, sacrificial pair of poles to experiment with (don't want to risk my Black Diamonds).
Looking at how they react to a 94kg load (well... not even that... just some of me),

Two options to get more sit height.
Use a ten foot hammock, that gets you up nearer 18" sit height.
Or slip some pole extensions on the trekking pole foot.
I quite like the latter solution. You...

When I tried to do the same, I found the click locks on my Black Diamonds were not strong enough, the sections slipped (even with them super-tightened).
Measured dowel rods inside the aluminium...
Of course, unicycling into a hammock and other such hama-nanigans is responsible behaviour?!

LoL
NB
no tether means no tethers, head or foot.
Or a higher one... tie out to neighbouring trees, leaving the ground trip hazard free.
(might add a garotte hazard for humans... small price to pay)
Impressive!
I spent ages designing and building my trekking pole stand to do the same as your simple setup!
