Gah! Thanks for the reminder! In for a complete 4 season Chameleon. I have been buying my hubby all the good stuff (Ridgerunner, winter tarp, etc) to make sure he would be comfortable enough to go -...
Also new.
Also old. (56)
Welcome! Nice group of crazies around here.
:shades:
Ahhhhhh, what better way to celebrate a Full Moon and lunar eclipse than to hang out under the stars. Temp was about 30 but I finally got a chance to use my new 20 degree top and underquilts from...

It finally came!! My poor hubby stalked the USPS guy and after a poorly timed ice storm, his new Ridge Runner and...
Congratulations! I tried telling someone what that's like when you can HEAR the wind gust coming. You're the only other person I've heard describe it.

That's crazy fast! COngrats and can't wait to hear about your maiden hang outside.
Gah! Not here yet. I gave in and told him about it though and he's excited. Just biting my nails. [emoji33]

Thanks for this. Have been going back and forth on the two setups, as a new hanger. I like the efficiency of the CRL - now to try it out!
Ahhhhhh, the good life. Enjoy with your son!
Bingo! I didn't realize he carried that either but that's just what I was looking for!!

Another female leading the male of the species here. My beloved doesn't mind camping - he just had never done it, while I spent my heathen little childhood running among the trees and fields. He is...
Hey wanted to let you know the kestrel arrived today. Thanks so much!
I think Wilderness Logic is also pretty fast, from what I read on the reviews?

Yep. Saw that one too. But hey, she thru hiked the AT, which is probably not ever going to happen for me at this point so yay for her!
Wow, Monster, that looks downright luxurious!

I'll take the Kestrel. PM sent.

Yes! I always have to remember that other people are taken aback somewhat by my plans to sleep outside when it's cold.
So jealous. Waiting for my winter gear to come in.

You guys are the best - thanks! (It's killing me not hinting about the RR!!)

@michigandave I do that too. Hike around locally and then hang in the backyard if I have to. I call it my "base camp" lol and I have my fire ring. Gives me a small but much appreciated dose of fresh...
Welcome from Iowa!

Not yet. I wish I could have made it to Yellow River but I do want to tag along with some more experienced hangers this upcoming year if we can.

Bumping this to see if there are any other Iowa hangers. I'm in Grundy Center and work in Waterloo.

December makes 3/3. No real winter gear - sleeping with a big old heavy army surplus bag in an Amazon double hammock and a BLUE TARP over me. That was the funniest part. But it was toasty warm and...
Now I'm drooling!!

This is a great thread. Not a full time hanger but have been experimenting in the backyard for 3 months. Still have my cheapo Amazon double hammock and sleep in a used military sleeping bag, and have...
I gotta say though. The fact that you LAID BACK DOWN AND WENT TO SLEEP makes you the Chuck Norris of hangers!!

New hangers and today we brought our double along in a day hike for the express purpose of hanging it from real trees....
Beautiful. My husband can't figure out yet what it is for me about waking up in my hammock but it's like it resets the gauges for me or something. I start the day out refreshed and positive.
Sweet! Thanks for the pics. How did you like the stand?
Looks wonderful. So glad everyone enjoyed the maiden trip. Makes everything easier!
