The chairs are great but your kids are darling! Are they up for grabs?
I just spent last weekend on a Grand Trunk Ultralight which is approx the same dimensions and I would recommend a slightly larger hammock if you are looking for a truly flat lay (or is that lie?)

I bought my first tarp on the HF For Sale section. A lightly used Warbonnet Mambajamba (new $110) with doors (new $75) for $85. I still use it when I know the weather warrants it.

Bump for some great hammocks
I bought one of these hammocks and love it! The parachute fabric is so soft and with whoopies and no straps mine weighs 18oz.
If I recall, the cheater line is nothing more than a line that is that sets the optimum distance between the toggles when stretched "tight" between two trees. Once up, you attach your hammock to the...
I switched to a quilt even for the times I have to use a tent! It allows me to move my legs around and regulate my temp throughout the night. Just like sleeping in bed. I was trying to think of a...
I keep my hammock treated with permethrin 'cuz the skeeters in Florida are about as bad as they come. During hot summer nights, the only way to stay cool is bare skin in contact with the treated...
Another excellent suspension if Amsteel is not your 'cup of tea' is polyester webbing with buckles. They are strong and easily adjustable.
Howdy ground dwellers, my name is Thug. Welcome to TentForums.com. We're a friendly bunch around here at least that is when we get a good night's sleep laying on rocks and roots.
Whooooooo...
Nah, hammocks are very stable, I've been sleeping in one for years and never fallen out!:lol::lol:
I switched from a bag to a TQ even for ground sleeping and will never go back. Just as warm but a lot roomier... just my $0.02
Since you already have it, use it and tthen send it.
I'm totally offended! I guess your going to have to comp me a SB to make up for it. :D
Hang loose,

I'm in! Thanks and may God bless you in the New Year
Hey L.D., looks like you might get a Christmas present!
The best suspension without question is the type that doesn't break. Anything less is unacceptable. :D
Beautiful job TW!
Question: In the close up pic it shows your stitching running right along the edge of the grosgrain and also the sil. How do you do that? Mine never looks that professional.
Ok, I'll bite and ask the stupid American question, what will you be hunting for? :scared:
+1 If it's a hammock, it's good, period!

I tend to trust the manufacturer's guidelines considering the stresses this product is designed for.
Woo Hoo! The anticipation grows!
Hey L.D.,
I just checked the Switchback Circuit Spreadsheet and it's possible the you might have it in time for the hang!
Looks like its turning out to be quite a successful little shindig!
Why don't y'all come to the 3rd Annual Florida Hang. It's promising to be a family friendly little affair with about a hundred other hangers and it's in one of the prettiest areas of the Ocala NF...
do you know the secret handshake?
I use 1.75 for everything. I know you're supposed to have the prussik cordage smaller than the line it wraps around but I haven't had any problems. I think this is referring more to when climbers are...
Hammock RL: The RL hangs in your face when using it to sit. The soft shackle enables you to easily disconnect it to get it out of the way.
Tarp RL: I use it on one end instead of a 'biner. After...
A great resource is floridahikes.com
There's so many great hanging spots in Florida that even the skeeters sleep in hammocks! :D

I'll check the permissions when I get back in the office in an hour or so.
Here's the spreadsheet
I'll do my best to get their Sunday before noon. Looking forward to meeting all of you.
How late do y'all normally hang around till on Sunday?
I can't make it to the hang (camping with scouts about 10mi away) but here's a sign up sheet.

Too bad you forgot your straps, guess you'll just have to go back out and get them....
Shouldn't take longer than 3 or 4 more days :)
Not only is there a sticky, there is a whole section under DIY called FABRICS. Great place to learn, especially from the Obi Wan RamblinRev. Word has it he invented fabric back around the time of...
How long is it and how far up is the foot box sewn?
You realize your weight savings will be around 3 ounces?
A couple of tricks I've found that help.
1. I use a really long taper and trim the extra length before milking it back into the bury.
2. Put the emphasis on gently milking the outer weave on to...
