just for clarification when I purchased the tarp Brian was still making 10x11 tarps which is what I have. And I have seam sealed it again inside and outside, it does not have the ridge-line tabs....

the ultra is a good tarp but if you want something with some serious weather protection you should look into the 4 season models.
if you haven't already pulled the trigger then I would recommend that you look into the eno doublenest it is a very comfortable hammock. I am a side sleeper as well and I had a hh and a didn't like...

even though you are looking to get a tarp that is cheap and good with enough searching on this forum it would probably not hurt you to buy a good tarp(oes is my favorite) I once heard someone say...

Backpacker claims that a tester used the bag on the ground wearing base-layers and nothing else and slept fine down to 43 degrees.
I don't know if anybody beside myself has ever heard of this stuff, it is called Eiderdown.

personally I have found that it is better if you take a reflective material and use it to make a SPE.

The easiest thing to do is to make your own snakeskins that are large enough to hold your hammock and your pod. There are some write-ups on that if you look around.
