I’ve yet to try their UQ but will be soon as a summer solution, but I do have a 167gsm(5oz) apex top quilt (their simplite model) from GramXpert https://www.gramxpert.eu/ and it’s a very lightweight...
Simply superb, my dream to camp in such conditions and surroundings...
Yes, once it’s under control €29 wouldn’t break the bank to experience some colder conditions, the Black Forest looks very appealing to a hammock camper as well...guessing the weather would be more...
Magical and medicinal.....
It’s bleak here today, only -1or2c but strong wind from the east and it feels like it’s cutting through me...
Arutha, I’d love to experience-20c to feel the difference.
That’s some serious temps Shug, it’s all relative I guess....but as I’ve heard you state before that things can get critical my -1c sort of doesn’t sound so cold!
Simple and effective (think I’ve been called that in the past:D), thanks Shug...I’ll try it out.
Thanks guys.
Had another night in the garden last night, only -1c but the quilts are fantastic.
Not the longest hike in.....-2.5c was a breeze in the HG quilts, slept warm and long...down is completely incomparable to synthetic in my minimal experience so far.

I’ve got a feeling I need to go shorter than the 83%....currently have 143” hammock and 120” SRL....when I’ve hung with it slack it’s been way more comfy.
Good tip on the biner thanks
It’s a trail lair with integrated net, the net is quite taut so if I shortened the SRL it may sit better....I’ll try the knot trick thanks cmoulder.
Understood thanks Shug, I’ll give that a watch.....
Thanks for your replies, I should of been clearer: if it’s good to have a bit of slack why don’t we just run them shorter?
If having the SRL ever so slightly slack, why not just make it slightly shorter? Or is there more at play?
Sorry if it’s been well covered but I just need to understand the above question....as when...
A well needed overnight camp last night to test the quilts out.
Incredibly different to climashield I think, I could feel instant warmth and was toasty throughout the night, did only go down to +4c...
Welcome along, Stoke on Trent is lovely part of the world.....
They arrived yesterday, a grand effort by DHL !!
Some beautiful craftsmanship.
I hope to try them tonight.
Just had an email “Your Hammock Gear order has been updated” “status now shipped”
Premium 20* Incubator and Burrow inbound to the UK :D:D
I’m full Yeti just not as hairy, and with some circulation issues ;)
20* premium incubator and burrow both with 2oz overstuff.....:)
I haven’t yet.....

I use evo loops on my UHMWPE straps rather than hardware, no issues.

Still getting a slight coolness, hoping my goodies from HG will be a fix...
It’s mid lockdown here in the UK; so a camp in the garden would be within the rules....we’re allowed daily exercise so I followed the “camp” with a stomp in the countryside and a coffee in the woods....
Welcome, I’m way over in the east. But do love the West Country.
Great news, thanks for the report, makes me feel even more excited to receive my goodies from HG !!
Hope they arrive before winter recedes.
That’s so looow temps there, makes it all the more satisfying and cozy getting the insulation dialled in.
May have mentioned it further back but I get similar with gloves, my hands can get so cold...
Hi Peter, I’m by no means an expert, but I’ve had similar on heavier tarps and I’d personally be putting a tiny patch of tenacious tape on either face of it, seam sealer will obviously stop the water...
It’s too much of a tonic to not keep dialling it in...fresh air, natural sounds, ache free sleep!
The socks I use for hammock time are possum merino and quite loose, I think the issue is poor...
Brilliant, that’s a good test at 10f !!
I wonder if you’re onto something with the socks off thing, my hands warm up far quicker without gloves sometimes, it’s as if the glove holds in the cold...
I’m finding a good feed before climbing in is helping a lot, as is layering the underquilts as the ratings on apex just don’t seem to be accurate for me as I said above.....really have great...
Cheers fellas.
Still waiting on my HG incubator but have still been getting out, stacking 4oz/6oz layers of apex underneath me has helped but made me realise apex ratings are just not accurate for me, although a...
Was a bit of fun, thanks for watching.
Just a time lapse of a sunset and setting up for the night from a recent camp.
Bit of fun....less than 30secs long.

I just did an HG Journey, pitched it inside out and drew the pullouts toward each other to apply the seam sealer while under the sort of tension it would see in use.
Was cold outside, 3-4c and...
Merino buff for me, my nose gets cold, so a buff pulled up to cover it keeps it warm without me looking like a bank robber!
On a recent trip I put one under my toes between socks on each foot, kept my toes warm most of the night and did have a good effect on my overall warmth...or feeling of.
They really are useful in my...
You guys are so lucky to be able to even consider that kit for your conditions.
I’d load up a pulk every opportunity if I could....
Fascinating insight from you guys, is really appreciated.
My locale is high humidity most of the time so I’ll definitely be considering an uqp for my down uq...and will likely keep with apex top...
I hear you BillyBob58, I’m going to try some goose down as I’ve never been fortunate enough to try it in any camping situation...indeed I have an HG premium incubator 20* 850 with a couple ounces of...
Slept in the garden again last night, an extra layer & hot water bottle and had a lovely night.
-3c and frosty drifting to +2c and rain through the night.
Went to sleep very tired and with backache...
I’ve just ordered a 20* incubator, hopefully will cover my UK winter needs, and as you say Tpatter, the trailwinder will go on the outside and give flexibility across two uq’s.
Think it’s been my main issue since winter began, apex just not warm enough for my back.
I’m going to on that recommendation, cheers Shug.
Another night in the garden and it got down to -3c so a good chill, toasty warm on top but I was cold from below, two layers of apex 4oz/6oz, loads of fiddling, nice loft I think, underquilts both up...
Got some goodies from Jared: 12’ trail lair and a top quilt in 7.5oz.
Tested both last night and was super comfy and toasty warm....still quite a new guy to it all but getting things dialled in...
