Happy Halloween to you also. Wish I could draw like that.
Welcome from south of you.
I built a "spear type" stand out of 1 inch ridgid conduit for such occasions. My troop goes to camporees and most are assigned camp area in open fields. We can usually pull the troop trailer right to...
Welcome from down near Rochester.
I have seven hammocks and if I want to go out in the yard or throw one in my daypack for trail breaks on day hikes it is my eno. Love the comfort and no net to hassle with. Nothing wrong with a eno....
K-dawg put that video up that you are thinking of.
Very impressed. Nice job.
Awesome way to make it work.
Nice equipment. I have the original blackbird and really enjoy it as do a lot of people. Love my superfly tarp. Good choices hope you like your warbonnet stuff as much as I do.
Nice job on the video! Looked like a great trip and a great time. Keep making the trip videos you are doing great.
You could use mason line for tie out cordage.
I used a poncho liner as a top quilt this weekend. Had three season jarbidge under quilt no foot pad or socks. Slept in shorts and a t-shirt low said 54 F.overnight. Would not say I was overly warm....
I have a set of yellow straps from Harbor freight they work fine never had a problem. Also never used them anywhere but in the yard or to show non ha mockers that you do not need a bunch of fancy...
Have not gone to the Boundary Waters yet. Wife is a little reluctant to go primitive that long. But it is on my list to do.
Welcome to the forum.
Welcome to the forum and the state. It is a great state for outdoor activities but I am a little biased.
My first was a GT Skeeterbeater and it was a hit with the whole family. My son decided he wanted to hang also so I started researching hammock camping and that got me here. My son still uses that...
Any of Dutches hammocks should be fine for you. If you want to try two people you might want to get a double layer. Dutches hammocks do not come with a suspention so when you add that in it is...
Agree go with a Hammock from Dutch or a Warbonnet Traveller or any other cottage vendor net less. You can get a nice net less hammock for under $100.
I have a set. They are very heavy compared to other suspention sand there are less expensive options. However they are super easy to use and they do not stretch. My son has been using them for three...
I also use either a poncho liner or a fleece sleeping bag liner. For really warm night the poncho liner is just right for me.
Silvr Surfr is right. I have my tarps in their own snake skins. Hammocks in their own bishop bags. I normally carry the tarps in an outside pocket on my pack.
Forgot to say I also have mine in snake skins and love them.
Nice tarp. I have two I think they are perfect summer tarp. Plenty of coverage for if it rains and can block a fair amount of wind if pitched right.
Welcome to the forum. Easy to get obsessed. Learn all you can and enjoy your selfs.
Welcome from southern MN. Search the site but people seem to have pretty good luck with the pipe stand Derek Hanson describes in his book. His book is "The Ultimate Hang". A great book for hammocking.
I'm in. What a generous thing to do. Thank you
Welcome to the forum. Hennesy makes a nice hammock. Lots of info. here. Everyone is is super helpful so do not be afraid to ask if you have questions.
Welcome to the forum. You might want to think about a turtle dog stand for camporees. They always seem to be in big fields. Regular camps I have always found trees. Sometimes your a little away from...
Nice write up. Nothing better than spending time outdoors with your kids in my opinion! Looks a like you had fun. Thanks for thr trip report.
Welcome from south east Minnesota. As an ASM I am happy to see you are working for your eagle rank. Glad to see more scouters hanging.
Welcome to the forum. This is a great site as you have discovered.
Thankyou the whole vapor barrier idea has always confused me. I do use a ccf when it is cooler out(below 30 degrees). Have not gone below twenty degrees yet. Still pondering if I want to or not.
Welcome to the forum
Glad you had a fun trip. Keep taking her out and she will be hooked for life.
Welcome to the forum
Welcome, I kayak camp in Beutiful Minnesota also. However I am in the southeast on rivers. I look forward to sharing in your knowledge.
Mine did not come with tree straps. Cheapest tree strap suspension I know of are tie down straps from harbor freight. $9 and 1200 pound rated. Heavy but cheap.
My son and another scout in our troop use Grand Trunck Skeeter Beater and it works well for them. Another boy has a Hennessy Scout and likes it but he is a small boy. The Skeeter Beaters have held up...
Welcome to the forum. My son is thirteen and also in scouts. He uses a Grandtruncks skeeter beater and Eno atlas straps. Easy set up. I tied the bungee material to the loops on each end of the...
I am in and thank you. Color does not matter.
Just got my jar bridge! First underquilt, now I need to go hang somewhere. Probably the front yard to dial it in.
I use it and I have not noticed any stretching. Sure makes it easy to find the hammock after late night / early morning calls of nature!
Hello and welcome to the forum.
Welcome to the forum from the opposite corner of the state. If you do not know this already, watch Shug's video series ,read Derricks The Ultimate Hang, and check out Just Jeff's web page. Those...
Welcome this site is has a plethora of info. And thank you for your service.
It has been abit cold here this winter! I love the blackbird Superfly combo. Blackbird is comfortable and no pains in the mourning like when I was a ground sleeper. Superfly is just so versatile....
I'll take it . The Clark vertex.
Welcome from another Minnesotan. Blackbird and Superfly are my setup and they work perfect. I hope you enjoy them and our beautiful state.
Got a set for Christmas from my wife. I have not used them except on a test hang in the garage. I like them so far!
