I'll take the WinterDream.
The one possible exception I've heard to this is that supposed duck down is a more common allergen than goose down. I don't have a peer-reviewed source for that though, so take it with a HUGE grain...
In my experience, the water bottle is most helpful if you're already feel cold. If you're warm before getting into bed, my experience has been like yours - the boost is much less noticable.
Chevron baffles are new to me, but I have to agree... I love the look, and I imagine the labyrinth they create would go a long ways towards mitigating shifting.
You and me both.
I had to make a rolled hem to repair a tablecloth hammock. I can sew a reasonably straight line, but pinning up the hem? Awful, just awful. Still, the repair's made and no one has to know how ugly...
Assuming that the working end of the whoopie is under the hammock, should that function as a built-in dripline?
Fair enough.
Predictability makes perfect sense; I'll give it a try if/when I do make a couple beater hammocks.
I'm still curious why you choose to triple stitch though. Do you have a specific reason? Are you...
That's good to know.
I know the first one was due to how I gathered the ends, along with a too-steep hang angle.
I'm curious - why triple-stitch the channels? I haven't played around with...
I wish I remembered how the second one failed. I don't think it was a weight issue - at least, if it was, it was compounded by something else since I got a couple months out of the second. Most...
I bought a couple 60"x126" crinkly taffeta, and a 90"x156" polyester about a year ago. I sleep in the 90" every night and love it*. The 60"x126" are just long enough for me, when full length....
Ahhhh, thanks.
If you were me, you'd be 6'1 and 250 and she'd be 5'5 and 120. :-) That thought did cross my mind, but the tablecloth hammock just isn't big enough for me. I ripped it near the gathered end when I...
I'm not familiar with TED/HUG. What do they stand for?
And I'll have to check out the curtain thread, but I do have some nylon mesh left over from a brew-in-a-bag build, as well as some tulle that...
That's pretty much my thoughts. I'm also far more... stoic isn't quite the right word, but close enough, than she.
I can sew, but not well. The Fronkey net should be doable. To the thread injector!
My girlfriend and I will be backpacking in the southern White Mountain National Forest over Memorial Day weekend. I have a WBBB XLC, however she's new to backpacking so I'm outfitting her with a...
I second getting a scale. I know it's not always possible for people to spare $20, but if you're looking to cut weight a cheap 5g resolution digital kitchen scale is indispensable.
That is one honking big blade. More knife than I'd use as well, but has quite a nice look.
That is very tempting, I need a want a summer weight TQ. What are the dimensions on it? (Width especially.)
Two minutes. Two minutes! :-D
Doesn't seem very likely to happen, but if enough people withdraw I'll take 3.
Have you had any issues with the down shifting in the Karo baffles while you sleep? I'm pretty unfamiliar with Karo versus traditional baffles.
Also, do you know how much the quilt weighs by...
What's the weight of the TQ? What's the fill material and how much loft is there?
Is the 30° rating reasonable in your opinion? Do you have a photo?
Thanks!
Sorry, I didn't see that you were selling it as a kit. My bad.
Nevermind.
How much for the Snow Peak 700?
Same here... wish it was an XL instead.
Shug's videos are a like that... you start watching "Who on Earth is this guy?!" and then all of a sudden it's two hours laters.
Gorgeous knife, I wish I could justify the purchase to myself.
Best of luck!
How much does it weigh?
I, too, am interested in how I get on your mailing list.
In addition to being a backpacker, I also brew beer. When brewing, I use a large plastic spoon to stir the wort... hence the name.
