Thanks, Shrineclown. I think I'm going to try the Bourn Pond-Stratton Pond loop and hit Stratton Mountain for a view. I'll post a trip report.
I have to drive back to Boston on Sunday evening, as long as i can head South it doesn't matter to me how far from Woodstock. i want to get to the trailhead before dark though, it's going to be a...
Going to a meeting in Woodstock, VT this week. Staying over the weekend and looking for a loop hike on the Long Trail nearby. 2 nights, up to 25 miles or so. Any suggestions?
I like my Double Layer 1.7 because I put a CCF pad in between the layers and that helps keep it laying flat for me. I tend to toss & turn.
Great choice of hammock and tarp! Here's my setup, taken on top of a New Hampshire mountain last month.

Thanks for sharing, what a great trip!

Nice trip report, thanks for sharing!
Nice post, the gravity filter seems like a no sweat way to go!
Thanks for sharing, looks like I'll put another destination on my list.

Great trip report and photos, thanks for sharing! Looks like a great spot for a hang, too!
Fronkey, the meteor showers were awesome. Something like ~15 an hour? I left the Nikon and tripod at home (too heavy :() would've liked to get some time exposures but I only had the camera in my...
Great trip report, looks like you had quite a nice setup, despite the rain setback. Great time that'll be remembered by your grandson forever.
To celebrate my 63rd I did a 2 day, 17 mile solo loop hike starting at the end of Zealand Road off Rt 302 about 3 miles South of Twin Mountain, NH. Zealand trail to the A-Z trail to the top of Mt...
Took my son and his buddy for a weekend hike along the New England Scenic trail, also known as the Metacomet-Monadnock trail. We did sections 18 and 19 from Mt. Grace in Warwick, MA to Rhododendron...
Great photos, looks like a super spot to hang out.
Living (and camping) in New England I've wanted to escape the state forest campgrounds and get out in the woods but tent camping in the woods meant rocks and roots to deal with or an uncomfortable...
