Thanks
Sadly, I wont be able to participate. Its too expensive for me to travel half the world for a hangout

Dear participants
Two of my Danish friends are on route and will participate in this hangout, Christian and Lars. They have traveled a long way, so they may be hungry and thirsty
Please give...
The difference between 1.0 HyperD and 1.1 Ripstop is mostly weight, the # indicates oz/sqyd, higher number = higher weight. 1.1 Ripstop may be a bit more robust but HyperD is softer. Beside the...
Another one to the collection
Found it on the net for 300DKR = $48 could not resist ;)
Singer 201K from 1946 with knee bar. Sadly no knee bar box or attachments. Only what you see.
It runs but has...
In my experience very wide is not worth the extra bulk and weight. If you don’t use the whole width its wasted. The best results I have with a “wide body rectangular hammock” is with a width around...
Another way to deflect water from a whoopie sling.
3mm rubber 16mm diameter outside and a 2mm hole for the cord.

If in doubt go with 1.6 HyperD. I have used it many times and its one of my favorites. However I made one hammock in Robic1.2 not so long ago and its growing on my (positive). I doubt it is as robust...
#3 is approx. 10gram/meter
#5 is approx. 19gram/meter
#5 will also take more space in the backpack
#3 ykk is ok for a hammock as long as you don’t stress it too much. I only use # 3. All zippers has its limits no matter what the size is. If you have to go around corners make the radius as big as...
I can’t speak for RSBTR but typical file format for cutting machines is .dxf (AutoCad format) and drawing with Polylines. If so colors doesn’t matter. If there is a line a cut will be made including...
I am approx. 200lbs and i haven’t had any problems with 1.0oz yet. However its at my comfort limit because I like my hammocks a bit more firm but it will do. IMO you can trust fabrics from RSBTR. I...
I assume the laser cutter is in house so I am wondering if it will be available for custom work (for a fee)?
How big is the “bed” (cutting area LxW) anyway? Maybe it’s too small for my ideas....
I haven’t had much luck with the narrow hemming feet’s. However I made a DIY hem guide and it works every time but the finished hem is wider, approx ½” or 12mm. I have made 20+ hammocks and 3 tarps...
Please also be careful regarding using it for an UQ if you want to use down. Fabric used for down has to be downproof. I don’t know if there is a method you can use to test it. If its anything like...
The fabric one of the first hammocks I tried to make was the green nylon the old T10 parachutes was made from (but new). I never finished it because the fabric opened around the seams under load. I...
My version. Colors so it doesn't get lost. Tacblades, :thumbup1:

Cool idea :) Now ongoing ;)
Hot Glue vs. SilNET

Not a bad idea.
Made a test. Its much better than SilNET :) However it looks like c... and is difficult to apply. Never Mind the looks because it's hidden but the coil will roll if the glue isn't...
SilNET don't work. The second layer does not help much.
The reason i wanted to try a softer material is i fear if coated with superglue or similar it will be brittle. It may work for a while but...
The test zipper with silicone (SilNET) I made yesterday isn’t dry yet but it's clear it won't be as stiff as I hoped for and expected. It is coated on both sides. I have added a second layer just to...
Test with SilNET on the way. It won't be dry today.
Another way.
Dacron or aluminum (Beer can) folded around the edge where the coil was removed. It actually works well.
It is important there is no space between the reinforcement material and the...
Another idea
I don’t have any superglue or epoxy otherwise I would have tried filling 6-8 coils with glue. When dry file the “teeth” away so it becomes a bit smaller than the original shape.
I am...
Tried with some Dacron i had from my kite making days. It helps a lot. Its stiff but still a bit flexible. Has to be stiff on both sides. With Dacron the slider is also pushed a bit sideways. It...
Very cool :) Maybe silicone could be used to make it stiffer and still flexible?
Two things I am concerned about.
IMO it’s not a good idea to cut into the zipper. Because you haven’t made a hem all the way along the sides the zipper acts as a reinforcement (the strongest part)...
Very nice video! Clear and to the point :)
Regarding the gaps along the sides a channel with shock cord can fix it however adding it now can be a bit tricky.
Option 1 if it was made from the...
I finished my first Robic 1.7 XL hammock last night.
This fabric is very easy to handle and sew compared to some other fabrics.
As you can see this hammock has some curves and it is always a...
There is a lot of products we can use for cleaning and maintaining a sewing machine. What to use depends on the job and in some cases what the manual says.
Always remove the power cord! If the power...
I haven’t made a hammock in months and my hands are almost shaking ;)
I just placed an order so now I am looking forward to trying this new fabric
Hang the hammock(s) diagonally if possible

A way to overcome the pole tip problem is to make 4 pockets from Grosgrain and sew them onto the hammock body. If you do it like this you don’t have to do any precision splicing (for the pole tips). ...
Some years back I made kites and used carbon fiber tubes. They are very strong but there are limitations.
I found an 8mm (5/16) and made a small test. IMO its too thin for hammock use. It was 1...
This concept can be used for a lot of things. The idea have crossed my mind several times but not only with buckles as shown. I was looking for something that could be sewn on to fabric/net. My idea...
I do the hammock/zipper the same way as you but my problems start with the net. I don't pre-cut the net.
Usually I pin, make a rough cut sew and then trim it so the raw net edge is below and hidden...
It looks like the lower seam is hidden (between the layers) on the net side of the zipper. How did you do this pinning and what not? I have made a few hammocks somewhat alike this (I think) but the...
If you take pictures take two (Occupied). First with the head in the mod direction and then do a 180 otherways i doubt anyone can see the difference.
You could sew the ends like I assume they are now and use a few strips of Velcro in the mid section. Then you will always be able to get out in case of panic.
Whatever you do make sure the system cant lock. It’s not fun to be trapped in a hammock in the dark when nature calls ;) Read panic
21A has it. Got one love it.
Glad to hear it works for you :)
If you want to lift the edges of the hammock you could make a mod like shown on the picture. Sew the side edges together over the ridge line. Do it in both ends....
I am wondering if anybody have experience with larger radiuses VS. relative sharp corners on the Tie-out corner?
It’s not about adding a triangle reinforcement or something like that but direct...
Tested this weekend. All I can say is I will never make a tarp again without this modification! It makes everything so much more stable. The picture show the tarp with only one stake. The tarp can't...
Please have in mind if you have to add other items to insure non tangle you will add extra weight and bulk then the savings are gone. You have to look at it as a whole.
At the moment I use 1,5mm...
This sleeving line may be an idea for loop protection.
Shop in germany http://www.metropolis-drachen.de/en/Kite-materials/Bridles-lines/Sleeving-line/
When making a cover ,net or fabric it can sometimes help to pin it to the ridgeline. If the net/fabric is pinned it can't shift sideways over the ridgeline.
Could not help myself ;)

Sewn overlaps.
I think it would work better if the hypotenuse was linear. If for no other reason perhaps a cleaner look.
