I have a hard time believing the L track stuff doesn't squeak. Isn't it still metal on metal contact? They also seem really expensive, unless Amazon prices aren't representative.

I found one thread about it but no one actually tried it. The more I think about the cleat the more I like it. You technically wouldn't need any equipment other than the continuous loop coming off of...
I tried all of the suggestions in the thread that didn't require buying new hardware and they all failed to stop the squeak entirely, though several reduced it a lot. Wrapping the d-ring in some foam...
I thought that at a 30 degree hand angle each anchor receives the full weight of the load, wouldn't a bridge hammock hang angle be slightly worse? I doubt I could get away with those either way...
"Less Swinging"??? That's heresy!!! :lol::lol::lol:
I tried the silicone last night and it helped a bit, I'll have to try some of the other tape/paracord suggestions this weekend. Thanks for the...
WD-40 has several lubricant formulations and one is in fact silicone based. I used to use it quite a bit. I don't touch the regular WD-40 though.
Good idea, I tried some teflon based lubricant with no improvement but it was applied in drops not spray. I'll have to search the garage for my silicone WD-40.
That's an interesting idea but looking around online the eyebolts with a lag screw base aren't welded at the base of the ring so they have pretty low weight limits. The solid rings have higher weight...
Do they rattle a lot when you swing? We used something similar at an old job I had and they were strong, but noisy.
Thank you both for the replies. I may give the Eno hang kit a go, I looked at it when I first thinking about making the switch but went with the die down points because they were a lot less expensive...
The other night I was testing out a prototype DIY hammock similar to one of the Vivere brazilian hammocks with ~2 feet of cordage at each end rather than fabric. My idea was to use a piece of 1.9 oz...
I use some 1,200 lbs surface tie down points as anchors for our hammocks indoors (my wife and I are full time hammock sleepers) but they are rather squeaky when the hammock is swinging and the walls...
That's a really cool idea, I've never heard of milkweed floss.
Are you planning to do a 50% blend with down? I looked up an article on it and they concluded that it was best when mixed, at least...
Nice work! That seems very handy.
In my experience (which I admit is limited) you don't need a "heavy duty" machine, the internals on consumer "heavy duty" machines are basically the same as any other consumer machine of the same...
