What’s the weight limit for this as a double layer?
@virtualbotanist I have done almost the same thing, except with my paddle and two lines and a single tree at the other end. This made the tarp completely independent of the hammock and freed up both...
It looks to me like either the hammock is shorter than most (maybe a 10’?) or the tarp is much longer? Any chance that tarp is 12’ per side square with a 16-17’ diagonal as it ridge line?

I backed this on kickstarter and it arrived yesterday. I slept in it last night indoors on a tensa stand.
My initial impression is that it is made like a tank. I have 6 or so hammocks from a...
I’ll be in the area Friday and Saturday night.

I ordered a 12' trail lair on sunday night, and it made it to my mail box in Indianapolis today! So fast! I just set it up in my back yard, and it's very comfortable. I plan on taking it out the...
Anyone heading to
Mohican this weekend? I'll be in Columbus and am thinking of going Saturday, possibly Friday evening.

I'm moving to Fishers, Indiana at the end of the month. Where do people hang and hike around there?

Zaleski is great! I've only gone in the fall/early winter. I camped at the same spot you were, thinking it was pretty remote but a bunch of folk showed up. It turns out theres a road not far...

I suspect that the majority of damage comes from the setup/adjust/take down of the straps during which the straps can get caught on the bark and not from the use actual use of the tree for hanging. ...
pretty cool. Do you think it will work for long/tall people?

Dobbin Grade is a marsh whose depth can change surprising fast from step to step. It definitely helps to bring a trekking pole to prod as you go!

amazingly its a double layer. But under tension it doesnt appear to have presented much of a challenge to them.

Has anyone tried the summer vented sock with a wbbb xlc? I just got back from a trip and everywhere my legs or shoulders weren't protected by my quilts was chewed on by mosquitoes biting through...
Do you think this design can be scaled up to handle about 300 lbs? I am 6'7" @280 lbs and have been following this in the hopes of making something I could use...

I'm heading into OSU for a conference this weekend. Seems like it might be a good excuse to head out there.

So does anyone have a recommended bridge hammock for someone 6'7" @ 280 lbs?

I am totally digging this. Simpler is better.
welcome from northern ky!
So long as it doesnt dangle in your face, I like it. Could probably just skip the lanyard.
Looks like it went really well. I don't think that I saw a planning thread for this or might have come too. I have been going to the events further north and east and the Indiana hangs further...
I was about to put a soft shackle on my pack so that I could hang it from the opposite side of my tarps suspension since it already went around the tree but was struggle with how to set the height. ...
Weights for the MD and HD would be good, too.
I have taken to using these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006MQ036W?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00

i have taken to using the bags that are made for storing wedding dresses. just fold the quilt in half lengthwise and clip to one of those clothes hangers with two clips, then put the whole thing in...
Incredible!
I've seen several mentions about taking your fuel into your hammock to keep it warm for use in the morning. If it is getting that cold, be sure to bring your water filter in too. You don't want...
She's a beaute! Thats exactly what im saying.
it would be interesting, if you prefer porch mode, to have an offset ridgeline on a 12x12 tarp, so that one side would be 4 foot wide, and the other side 8 foot. i had considered doing that earlier...
This will sound weird, but more often than not, I end up wrapping the doors at one end around the tree and use the tree as a windbreak and use the opposite end for entry. On the entry end i run a...
Ive never heard of that. Can you explain the baby powder technique?
I'm digging the tree table, but i want it to be more light weight. Are you using line locs or anything to make the line adjustments easy?
One other note: there were several coyotes active. I've dealt with a solitary coyote before, but never a pack. The first one came up to the camp about a hour after we turned in, but moved on...
Man, Ben and I made it right around 3 o'clock. By the time we got to campsite nine everybody seems like they were gone. there were no cars in the lot no hammocks at the site. We decided after a...
Man, so once you find yourself in a situation with four or five quilts from JRB, how do you keep track of which one is which? I normally go on trips by myself, but after a family trip, i'm left...
