There's a very small parking lot off northeys bay road, just after a little bridge, but it can fill up pretty quick. The trail was roughly flagged, at least when I was last there like 4 years ago.

A great option I use is a kelty tarp, just a large normal tarp, the doors are in how it's hung and staked.
This YouTube video I found is exactly what I started to use. Tent privacy, hammock comfort....
I'm in new brunswick, and I think a group hang could be fun.
Are you lying in the hammock straight, and ending up in an uncomfortable u-shaped banana shape?
Or are you lying at an angle to get a flat lay?
I ordered one of their hammock chairs to use as a gear hammock, and its been excellent. Arrived in good time, well made, good sized stuff sac. No complaints, highly recommend.
I'm gonna second a bugnet, I like the fronkey style. Top covers seem to be more for the cooler weather, like spring/fall. You will cook in summer.
Finally got out to test them, and we were both warm and toasty while being -10C outside.

I didnt do anything to alter the tarp.
I bought some paracord that I use as a ridgeline, prussiks with mini biners so I can adjust/center it. I hang the tarp over the ridgeline, to put less stress...
Are both anchors at the same height?
The conventional wisdom says to have your foot end a couple feet higher than your head end, gets you into the sweet easier, and I think it helps with calf ridge....
Dutch has good diy instructions, I used them for my bugnet.

Hey, I dont know what the collegiate loop is, so grain of salt, but have you considered not going to ground? There are a variety of hammock stands out now, with different pros and cons.
I'm looking...
I didnt really take any of that into account...I'll just hang it underneath my hammock, and i figure it should be fine.
The insulation will be compressed along the edge where the seams are, but no...
Just finished sewing the wife's

I decided against the the diagonal asym, made a 7ft symmetrical full width. I use a symmetrical hammock, and tend to move around in the night. Makes it a little heavier, but I think if I get cold, I...
Looking good
I still need to test mine, but I just finished a synthetic wookie style, aka sld trail winder type, it's basically a quilt sewn to a slightly smaller hammock and just hung beneath. Suppose to be...
I prefer bottom entry
I started with integrated on my hennessy zipper entry, but I did not like the zipper, for multiple reasons.
You need to fully unzip when getting in so you dont tear anything,...
I have the survivorman, and I tied it to just one side of their strap a couple of times, but I really didnt like tying the figure 8, so I tied carabiners close to the hammock ends and got daisy chain...
Weighted blanket for camping? ...I have a weighted blanket at home, weighs like 20 pounds. If you were car camping I guess you could use that... but most people try to find lighter everything for...
A slightly different perspective-
Have you considered getting a net-less hammock and then getting a fronkey bugnet?
Then you could hang it over the side or get air easier... although also easier to...
Always gotta stay sharp for rednecks... might offer strangers some of their food, or drink, or even *gasp* comraderie
Sounds like a successful test-always a good idea to test out your winter gear before you need it. Not sure how smart it is, but I usually don't want to sleep with a water bottle, and if I'm worried...
The trail winder looked like a great system for me. Just hang it underneath, no fuss no muss. Synthetic instead of down, I'm in atlantic Canada, so it's not moisture so much as just wet. And while...
I like my kelty 16, it's a little big, so I usually strap it on the outside of my backpack. I'd think the 12 wouldn't be too bad for most people, but I dont mind carrying a little extra to stand up...
My current setup is whoopie carabiner to daisy chains,
But I just made some hammocks for my niblings, and my in-laws, and I did ucr with buckles and straps, maximize versatility with minimal weight.
And I'm pretty sure dd hammocks has a dealer out Alberta way. Their underquilt looks like a decent budget option... like $100 for -5 I think.
DD hammocks has some cheaper stuff too.
My wife uses their 3mx3m tarp, and we almost went for their underquilt, but ended up sewing them to save a little more.
I'll second this. I also saw it on youtube, and now it's what I normally use. All the privacy of a tent, with sleeping comfort of a hammock.
One thing missing you might want is a gear hammock of some sort, to keep your stuff together and off the ground.
I use an arrowhead hammock chair, but I'm not a thru hiker. Theres also a gear...
I got a hammock chair from AHE to use as a gear hammock, and it worked great. I love ha ing my gear underneath me and off the ground. I can keep an extra blanket there if I get cold, or toss my...
My favorite spot in the area is crown land a little north of Peterborough, high falls, there's a little parking lot, few hours to hike to the falls, great hanging spots all over the place. Crown land...
So are you going have your dog in the hammock with you? Or are you going to get a big bugnet to go over you both, like Dutch's bird nest bugnet?

Assuming you're not ultra light-
Double layer, 11ft, netless hammock, with fronkey bugnet
Double layer hammock- to stop biting insects
11ft long is standard for sleeping in
I like a removable...
Not really, it doesn't extend too far past the end of the hammock, but I never use it in diamond, always just the square a-frame
We tied a couple of carabiners onto the rope and switched the tree straps it came with for some daisy chains (I think atlas daisy chain). So it's super quick, easy and adjustable, but it's not the...
My wife and I got survivorman hammocks together as our first hammocks. We're both happy with them, no issues with moisture. It's a great hammock. It comes with a removable foam insulation that fits...
I used to camp in tents, and while the sleeping comfort of a hammock can't be beat, I really missed having the privacy and space of a tent.
So, I bought a kelty 16ft tarp that basically makes an...
I started with a hennessy hex, which is sufficient for weather protection. But when I hike/camp, there is usually more people around than I would like, and the hex has no privacy. My wife has no...
I'm a big fan of gear hammocks.
I use a hammock chair from AHE, and couldn't be happier.
I can keep my gear clean and dry, and if I want an extra blanket or I'm too hot, my stuff is right...
I always put my tarp up around 6ft or more, so I can stand comfortably underneath, but I use a pretty big tarp... sone would say too big lol. I like having the privacy and space of a tent. I also...
