Sold pending funds to No-sage.
Because I'm not using it anymore I'm selling my hardly used 90degree hammocktent hammock.
It's the version with padsleeve and bugnet.
it comes with straps and uses the (slightly akward) two...
Depends on the hammock. In my 90*hammocktent I sleep on my side mostly. In my Trail Lair GE I mostly sleep on my back.
No problem.
Thanks!

Thanks for sharing!
Which campsite is that?
(being Dutch it's nice to know some good hammock campings)
Thanks!

OlTrailDog, curious to know which UQ did you use and how?
After the 90degree HT I dove deeper into the hammock rabbit hole and now I own also a GE and a ridgerunner.
The 90*degree HT is still by far the most comfortable.
(but in winter I prefer the...
The cross also has the option of a removable bugnet. Which might make breakfast from the hammock Shugstyle possible.
The minor gap between hammock and pad in the 90•HT is annoying because it...
Thanks.
I'm concluding that single layer vs double layer is a bigger difference than hammockbrand.

The question came to me because some people are very comfortable in brand X hammock and seem to be uncomfortable in brand Y.
So I thought maybe they all do the trick a little different.
...
Thanks guys.
More research needs to be done ;-)
Thanks for the replies.
Makes sense to me now.
That means that I now need to find out about the different fabrics and their characteristics.

Maybe it is discussed before but I'm wondering:
If all respected vendors we know would make an 11 ft hammock, with all the variables the same. Meaning same fabric, same ridgeline, same width,...

Forgot to mention, I'm looking for a full length uq

Looking for a 20* or 25* UQ for the Warbonnet ridgerunner.
I'm in the Netherlands, Europe.
Thanks,
Greg
There is a dutch guy who can custom make one for you.
I think his brandname is Brousse. If I recall correctly.

I have a tarp from DD. That is quite dark. Will provide a decent shape.

Ï have the same problem.
I think it's because of the small air pocket that exist where your legs and knees slightly bend. Its at that spot that the underquilt cannot hug the body tightly.
For me...
I don't have the wintersock but I do have the windsock. (forgot how its called) Great piece of gear that creates a nice micro climate. So I would sure recommend that.

Having slept in a GE last night I can only agree, the 90degree hammock is really fiddle and hassle free. No searching for a sweet spot, or messing with the ridgeline length. The perfect lay is right...
It works. But when it gets really cold I think the encapsulated warmth in a GE will be more comfortable.

Been experimenting with a cold weather setup. Attached a cumulus uq under the hammock. It works but for real cold weather I think my sld trail lair is better.

What would be the difference between the several sld hammocks?

And hello from The Netherlands as well

Funny, I find the 90degree hammock the easiest to set up.
It does require the treehuggers to be higher. And it does require a tarp with the right dimensions.
I use a 10x12 tarp and use the short...
Not sure if it has been mentioned here before but I just found a similar hammock vendor in Germany:

I have a Sld trail lair and even if I wanted it just doesn't let me lay in the middle /banana shape. It is somehow made in such a way that it automatically shifts you into a diagonal and flat lay.

I really like your idea.
If some company would make it I would buy it.
I would be slightly worried about the midpoint tie out.
In my mind I could see it tear when severe stress is on it.
...
On this drawing, where would be the ridgeline tie outs?
Really like your tarp ideas.

@SCReddog fotgot to ask : do you have the gap in your lay as well? (see pictures in my first post)

Thanks Screddog and everybody else for all the input sofar.
The clew inspires me to try a simple variation on that. Going to see if I can get around with a "snugpack uq style" suspension. Which...
The clew looks like an interesting option although I don't look forward to the DIY part.
Also I hope to somehow manage to get rid of the gap.
Or is the gap there always for everybody?

@ oneclick That makes sense. The fabric is quite firm. I sure can imagine that a bit more stretch would be a solution. So I should either work out a lot and build massive calves or gain weight, or...
