I run mine under, why?
Force of habit, I've always run any and every RL under my tarps.
I also find running a CLR(or any ridgeline) under the tarp allows for a more structurally taught tarp, since...
Some individuals prefer to use whoopie hooks in conjunction with their whoopie slings.
It's one of the primary reasons that individuals use the contious loop method, whether the loop of amsteel is...
It's not that you can't use shock cord with Line loc 3's. It's the application in which one utilizes.
For a tarp setup, the LineLoc 3's won't bite securely enough into shock cord, and the constant...
I agree 100% with the above assessment.
Even though I haven't yet, I will be investing in some lighter weight cordage for my guy out lines, in the future.

Lol! Yeah believe me, I'm with you.
I refer to mine as straps, too.

My understanding is "straps" utilize one loop and a tail while, tree "huggers" utilize two loops.
Even though the both serve the same purpose.
The straps(single loop end) tend to offer more variety...
I don't have any experience with Dutch's Hookworms.
But, I was using simple LineLoc's with ZPacks 2.3 Reflective Z-Line for my tarp guy outs and while they worked I wanted a faster and less...
I'm pretty certain the 1" width strap rule is due to regulations or pseudo regulations to help in preventing the cambium layer under the bark of the trees being crushed and damage occurring that...
Fronkey bugnet available from Dutchware in both 10ft and 11ft models.

Hmmm? Bigger tarp may be your best option then.

Your straps are too high up, creating a much steeper angle.
Lower your straps and try raising your tarp ridgeline.
I set my tarp above my head as high as possible and my hammock suspension appx eye...
I've heard good things about the DD 3mX3m tarp
and at appx $69.
There's also a variety from Aquaquest(?).

Same or similar principle applied to Dutch's Continuous Ridgeline.
That's the method I use.

I use a pack liner, so everything is dry on the inside to begin with.
But, I use either my poncho or a small 5'×7' tarp or poly drop cloth, depending on which outfit I'm taking with me and location....
No worries, again should be a relatively easy fix.
My buddy was having the same problem, if I remember correctly Dutch sent a little instructions card and clarifies this, with the purchase of his...
Your clip/loop on your strap needs to be moved the side of the trunk a little more, it appears to be too centered as you look at.
Cinch the strap tight against the Dutch Clip.
Should be a simple...
Your strap's loop isn't positioned correctly, it's backwards.
If you want your free end of your strap on the right side of the tree, as you're looking at, the loop end needs to be adjusted further...
Dutchware continuous ridgeline, reflective Z-line from Zpacks is what I use, then u can add some snake skins.

My Fronkey Bug Net has Mitten Hooks at both ends , I think I could attach both directly to a ridgeline or run the RL through the Fronkey at both cinch opening's.

Maybe some shock cord with a cordlock?
Sent from my LGMS330 using Tapatalk
Yep, been contemplating on getting a set of kevlar tree huggers from Dutch.

Curious as to your height, if weight is a big factor in your decision, you may be fine in a smaller hammock.
I've been rocking in a DD Superlight, at 280g complete with an including whoopie...
Never had a problem before.
Loosen the cinch cord up as much as possible, get in hammock as normal, get comfortable and cinch it shut.
I would say just be sure the opening is open as much a...
Interesting, I've never had my Fronkey over my UQ.
You may want to try it out the way I do mine, it may work a little easier for you.
Fully deployed Fronkey and adjust your underquilt afterwards. ...
Your Fronkey bug net doesn't go over your underquilt.
You should have your Fronkey on your hammock and your underquilt is adjusted against both your hammock and fully deployed bugnet.

I prefer Bishop bags for my hammock.
May get some snake skins for my tarp or even the singular sleeve from HG.
Decision's....Decision's.

The 83% is a general starting point that you can adjust and fine tune by adding or reducing the sag until you find your sweet...
Don't feel stupid, I always have my MEST and Poncho from them ,along with my primary tarp every outing I go on.
I'll sacrifice the weight penalty for the durability with these two items every...
If you want something a little more durable, check ot the 5x7 MEST from www.bushcraftoutfitters.com

Welcome from FL,
I'm curious on the length of your hammock and your height.
Hammock length is important, but so is the amount of sag of your hammock.

For UL hammock specific tarp, look elsewhere.
However, I...
I'm pretty certain it's not necessarily a load concern, but more a worry the line/s used could cut into the bark and eventually reach cambium layer, which could kill the tree.

According to Florida State Park Regulations, the 1" wide straps are the minimum requirement.
As far as tarp ridgeline goes, I've been using my CRL from Dutch and never been bothered or questioned. ...
