I have a wide Chameleon in 1.6 Moroccan Blue with asym bugnet. After two nights use she found it a bit too wide for her liking. You can see it in the background of this photo. I paid $155+tax &...
I'm a seam ripping pro these days.
I went with the white hyperD as well for my TQ, just used it on the inside instead. Found that it was tricky to sew, especially at the corners where it tended to bunch up on me.
How'd you fare...
This turned out well!
Wishing I would have skipped the zipper and added the draft collar on my Apex TQ. Let us know how it performs on your trip.
Thanks!
We are heading out on Wednesday for a day hike and then I hope to camp in the next few weeks. I'll be sure to let you know when I head out for an overnighter.
Thanks!
Are you going with a seen foot box or a zipper/other hardware closure mechanism?
Another DIY project brought to you by Shelter-In-Place.
Last month I made a few small pieces of gear; rain cover, dcf sacks, and a climashield pillow. This time around I wanted to try something a...
Looks great! I'm totally envious. Wish my folks would have taken me out for hammock camping when I was a lad.
What dimensions and materials did you go with?
Welcome, from Brooklyn. There are 10-15 of us that head out about once per month in the southern NY/northern NJ areas. Let me know if you're interested in joining once it's safe again to gather in...
Just finished my Apex quilt project over the weekend and am looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
Let us know what option you end up going with. I'm putting my quarantine apex quilt together over the next week or so and would love to see how you approach the build.
Wide hammock is the way to go. I'm tall and tend to move around quite a bit during the night and have found a wider hammock suits my side sleeping and when I lay on my back.
Anything to stay occupied while I'm stuck indoors. I'm on week 3 of no contact with anyone besides my girlfriend, dog, and the folks at the grocery store. Let us know how your projects turn out.
It packs down to about the size of a soda can.

You're so right! I've already been researching DIY quilts.
Thanks! I picked up some amsteel as well and plan to mess around with splicing.
Being cooped up in a tiny New York City apartment for weeks at a time will make you start thinking crazy thoughts like, "hey, maybe I should start sewing my own gear!?".
I bought some Climashield...
So many of us were. Welcome!
The more you hang the quicker you'll start to put things together and have warm, dry, comfortable nights. Took me about 10 trips to really start to figure things out, but I'm a slow learner.

Welcome! How are you liking the 1.7MTN?
Payment sent. Thanks, Andy G.
I'll take the ULA Ohm.
Do you know from experience?
Can you sit upright with the bugnet in place?
Beetle buckles were a great introduction to hammock suspensions for me. They made it easy to get up and running in an already new and somewhat complicated shelter/sleep system without having to learn...
Welcome grendel. How'd the DIY hammock turn out?
Welcome to the forums!
Welcome Jim!
The flexibility of being able to open the footbox up in the summer is worth the trouble of fiddling with snaps and drawstrings for me.

Looks amazing!
No problem, just thought I'd share just incase.
Looking forward to joining.

Looks great, let us know when you get it out into the woods.
I'm having the exact same problem!
I've even tried doubling up my UQs with no luck. Being 6'4", I thought it important to go with a wide UQ and hammock, but I'm not so sure how important it is...
Agreed. I much prefer my UP quilts to my APEX quilts. UP quilts pack smaller than the Apex variety and I think the UP is more comfortable.
Just heard about your adventure from Trevor and David during our overnight at Fingerboard this weekend. Good reminder that I should always be prepared to go to ground in cold temps. Pictures look...
Yeah, I don't disagree with the rule was just pointing it out. Suppose this will force me out of my lurking habit a bit.
Very curious to see how these perform.
You need a minimum of 50 posts to submit a thread to For Sale otherwise I'd have posted a few items.

Keeping quilts in large mesh bags has worked for me for the past couple years. I live in a tiny New York City apartment, so hanging my quilts isn't really an option.
I've purchased three UP quilts from CRO and have nothing but good things to say about the product. Comfortable, compressible, and affordable.
Fell in love with this pillow over the summer and haven't looked back since. Comfortable and designed with a hammock in mind.
@Moetermat
With my wide Chameleon I let leave the pullout cords at home, which makes it easier for me to reach out and pull the UQ up over my shoulder if needed. I also go with a long and wide...
I had good success stacking my Climashield underquilt from AHE over my Cedar Ridge Outdoors UP synthetic quilt, kept me warm down into the single digits last month. If you look closely, you'll be...
