Here's some from Amazon (prime) for 66 cents each. https://www.amazon.com/colorful-All-Purpose-Silicone-Multi-use-household/dp/B017B9CRX0
Pick a good spot.
Hang your hammock well off the ground.
Use a tarp that's long enough and wide enough (preferably with doors) and pitch it well.
Get an under quilt protector, like from 2QZQ.
Use...
Bubba, I'm 5'6" as well; around 150lbs.
I haven't tried an 8.5' yet, but I currently have a Grand Trunk Nano 7 that's 9' long and a Dream Hammock that's 10' long.
For me, the sweet spot (given...
This is a special place where hammock lovers of all types can come together. I'm an ultralighter myself, but I'll happily hit the trail with anyone I call friend. Their pack has nothing to do with...
Whoops! Venue has changed. Indian Cave State Park will be the place.
I have a couple of free days coming up, so a buddy and I will be headed to the Black Hills this Sunday, June 26th and back again on Tuesday, the 28th. Shouldn't be too hot, I hope.
If anyone wants...
Yes it is.
Do I spy a Habanero UQ?
So who's still coming?
George at Loco Libre is generous with his height estimates. Plenty of room in my Ghost Pepper.
This is last minute, but I may have a friend (he's a filthy stinking ground dweller) come with.
I'm no chef, but I can bring ingredients for smores or jambalaya or something else anyone wants.
I can go Friday too.
I'll be there.
Thanks, Shug! Quality sleep makes a real difference in my daily life. You're to thank for turning me on to hammocks. Thanks, thank you and thankee again :)
I would start by getting a copy of the ultimate hang and watching every video you can (especially Shug's).
Next, make a list of your priorities and put them in order. What's most and least...
It's a good thing I have all this equipment now, 'cause I had to default on my mortgage.
You sound like you could use some help. Try here: https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php/121032-Dutchware-Anonymous?highlight=dutch+anonymous
Dutch is like the world's friendliest crack dealer.
Hang in there (get it?). Only one week to go.
My heater stopped working last night and I didn't even notice until I took the quilt off.
See what I mean? He's on top of this stuff! The insulated footbox is awesome. My feet get cold easy.
Mwahahahaha!
I'm not kidding about the compression sack, either. I seriously thought he made a mistake and made it too small.
It weighs less than nothing. Seriously though, I got a weight of 442.3g (15.6oz) for the quilt and a measley 12.8g for the stuff sack. It's SO WARM. You're gonna love yours.
Gee, suddenly the ground doesn't seem so bad.
All aboard!
...you'd have a better chance quitting heroine.
I can attest to that. Spent just as much money buying a ton of sub-par gear as I did buying high-quality essentials.
My soul mate and I also met on dreamhammock.com ... I've never felt so... complete. Congratulations to you.
Recently, I was in the market for a top quilt. A fellow hammock forums member recommended Loco Libre and Shug backed them up. I had never heard of them, but decided to reach out to the owner, George...
Like most women will tell you, length matters. The difference between a 9 footer and 10 footer for me is huge. 10 foot is just right, almost too big. I'm 5'6".
It's convenience. Personally, I think it's worth it.
Yeah, Shug has this one covered.
I have a nano 7 with whoopies I'm no longer using. It's only 9 feet, but if that's not too small, PM me.
That looks so cool! How easy is that to wipe off/does it dry well?
Already exists. Powdered alcohol. There's beer and liquors.
I have plenty of dehydrated water to sell you guys and a bridge too...
Bravo, Dutch. Bravo!
Don't even think about leaving me, er I mean us. I... We need you!
Nah, he's been holding out on us. It's a new line of hammocks AND food. Just add water and you have an instant hammock. Once you've slept in it, you can eat it instead of tearing down.
Holy smokes that's huge! I felt like an under-acheiver with my 30 litre pack. Not anymore!
Oh they do work nice as a pod, though.
Sleeping bags have been known to cause at least 14 types of cancer. If you are going to use one in a hammock, unzip it 3/4 of the way and use it like a quilt.
Geocaching or a scavenger hunt would be fun.
If I go just before lying down for the night, I don't wake up to go for around 6 hours. I just get up, go, maybe have a snack, then go back to sleep for a couple of hours. It's no big deal as long as...
@sqidmark We make fun, but seriously, what do you normally eat out on the trail? I'm curious.
Sorry, I don't eat anything that absorbs, reflects or refracts light.
I too enjoy consuming sustenance.
Does anyone have a good DIY tutorial for one of these or something similar?
