I use whoopie sling suspension which only requires a toggle, which can be a stick in the woods if you wanted. But my hammock has them built in as I don't have the continuous loops.
I love my super fly. I typically reserve it for the trips where I'm expecting rain and or extreme cold. I like using a big piece of shock cord on either side to pull it out. Some folks will add the...
When I had one that was solid black, I used to have issues with condensation. But it got ripped and I ended up with a camo one, and I'm not sure if it was different material or what, but I haven't...
Thank you! I am actually getting ready to buy a Dutch spreader bar double hammock kit, for exactly what you just said! I have got to get my car fixed first, and then planning to purchase as long as...
This one doesn't have a hammock, bc my boy isn't quite ready to sleep so far away from Dad yet - but I figured I'd share our adventure anyways! Please give me a like or subscribe if you like the...
I don't use the self tensioning shock cord on my CF Hex and I have had no problems with it.
Thanks man! I enjoyed your vid you posted the other day as well. I gotta get me a hammock/fishing trip going at some point. Will be doing some "Yak-Packing" (backpacking but with kayaks) later this...
Had a blast up in the smokies a few weeks back with some friends. We didn't quite make it to our campsite so we had to stealth it, but still ended up leaving no trace, had no fire, so we made the...
I can't comment on other manufacturers, as I've only used HG, but I have had really good experiences with them. I had a rip in mine UQ that I had taped up, but was worried about. I was buying a new...

Had a really exciting adventure just recently down at the Blackwater River (FL). The forecast gods did not shine favorably upon my friend and I. Had an awesome Friday...
Just curious if anyone has seen the new Hyperlite Mountain Gear quilts? I have their Junction 3400 pack, and I love it, but their quilts are so overpriced, I’m wondering if maybe I got ripped off on...
Hey guys, I know lots of folks don't like this hammock, so please don't make this post about that. I love this thing. My other hammock is a Dream-Hammock Dangerbird, and it has a winter cover - a...
I used to use a nylon "blanket" I got from Amazon long ago, but recently rec'd a Kammok Joey Gear Sling from a friend. Absolutely love the Joey. Keeps all your gear off the ground and since it hangs...
I ended up pulling my buff down over my balaclava so that only my nares were exposed and that worked well.
It was a little breezy. I had a Warbonnet Superfly up with doors closed, which definitely helped some - and it wasn't bad like it would be camping up on the ridge, but 22 degrees + any breeze at all...

My first attempt at a vlogging a backpacking trip. I cut this one short due to the cold, but would love any feedback you guys might have on the editing, etc. Thanks!

So, I currently have a HG 20 deg burrow UQ. Love it. I am considering getting something that’s for 40 deg and up weather though. I have been considering a 3/4 length phoenix. Most of the stuff you...
I have my little boy that weekend and he’ll only be 5 and I’m not comfortable bringing him out in that level cold so far from civilization (like if he freaks out bc it’s so cold). Sorry guys! Won’t...
Crap. I have a Halloween part planned for this weekend. I was really hoping to be able to come to this. I've only been to one before and that was like 5-6 years ago. Sorry guys. :crying
I'm not 100% sure. Whit was tracking with a GPS watch, but I was just doing it round-about with the estimates from the map. My estimate put it around 10-12 miles total.
Very little water in creeks. Definitely didn’t drink any of what was in any of the creeks! Stinky and lots of skeeters.

Yes, the water was low, but it was flowing! I drank 4 L during the day Saturday and refilled again before the last 3 or so miles out. We had planned to stay two nights but the heat was relentless, we...
It's been forever since I've done a trip report, but I felt like doing one so here I am! Hope some of you fellas remember me.
So, I am really not one for hot-weather camping, but my buddy Whit is...
Well that counts me out. Sorry fellas.
If they said "Whatever", I'd say Yeah... They should get counted with the majority of those that gave a date.
Oct 9-11 would work for me currently! I've missed the last couple, and hope I can make this one!
Awesome video! So getting the backpacking bug again. So, did you take pads for the shelters along with your hammocks or did ya tent camp the other times?
I've never seen a "storm mode" on a door-less tarp. Looks awesome! I think I'm sold on the zpacks one. Good price too.
Ya know, if all the "I have time to tell you to go look it up, but not time to help you with your question" guys wrote down the answer in one place instead of pointing out the obvious, we could...
I think I'm sold that I want to try a hex tarp as an alternative to my SuperFly for warmer trips. I think I will always want the doors when it's cold to block wind...
So, several have mentioned that it takes skill to properly do a hex and not get wet in a storm... Can someone comment on that or share a link?
So, I'm using a SuperFly now - but wanting something lighter for trips where the weather isn't so bad...
However, I'm guessing since the weather isn't predictable - I'm at least going to get this...
Lol. That's Hotch, my German Shepherd hanging out beneath.
So, if you checked out my last trip report (link to my blog in my signature) you might have read about my incident with my DangerBird where I ripped a hole in the overcover and pulled the zipper off...
Seems like a lot of folks like it there. Maybe we should schedule a group hang?
Latest trip report! Check it out!
Lol. MUCH warmer. I wish I would have had the incubator for that night. I pretty much froze my @$$ off! Thus far it's been ridiculously warm. Haven't so much as felt a draft.

First trip with my new Hammock Gear Incubator 20. SO happy to not be sleeping on a pad! It was super warm...
Lol. Let me get right on that. Haha
If one wanted to have a nicer lay with tighter suspension, would shortening the ridgeline a smidgen help?
Nah. Makes sense that unless the ridgeline was made of steel it could be tensioned tight enough to cause an issue
I was thinking the same thing.
But gotta hand it to them: their marketing video was pretty superb.

What kinda thermometer you got? I wanna get me one of those that I can clip on my backpack or ridgeline...I've seen them in YouTube vids...
So I tried to hang my Dangerbird out in my backyard the other day. I've never had any issue getting it to lay right, ever. I had even hung between these same two points before. So I'm at a loss for...
I received my quilt Friday! I haven't spend a whole night in it yet (I'm not particularly fond of my back-yard - stupid neighbor's dog making noise all night) but I did set it up outside Friday...
Definitely, let me know if you change to Sipsey. We will be there for sure. Going up Friday night and staying through Sunday.
Woohoo! I am no longer waiting to be fulfilled! Shipped today!!!
What's the dimensions of the stuff-sack you have, Shug?
