Sounds good to me, looking forward to seeing everyone
I am assuming that reserving a site covers parking since 2 vehicles are allowed on each site. I just reserved A18 on loop a and it would not let me add in the vehicle count. I could type in a 1 but...
It looks like all of the sites are already reserved. Do we just show up and pay Jimbo for the sites as we have before? I realize the parking pass is seperate. Thanks!
Unfortunately I wont be able to make it either. I have a pretty bad cold and am feeling rotten. Have a great time everyone! Catch ya next year
Sounds easy enough, I think you need to type "Google Maps" one more time......lol! Thanks and cant wait to meet everyone.
For us first timers it looks like we are in the group camp area shown on their map......correct? Really looking forward to this!
Excellent!
Is there a GHSP/ Mt. Rogers - The Original Cold Weather Hammock Forum Hang scheduled for Jan 2023?
Just signed up!
10-4, thanks
How does breakfast work? Does everyone do their own thing or is it a collaboration?
This is great, I am really looking forward to good food and fellowship. Can't wait to meet everyone!
Sounds good to me!
Awesome! I am really looking forward to the event and meeting everyone
This will be first time attending this event and I realize that it is a hammock event but I was wondering if ground dwellers were welcome? You never know when we might convert
someone to hammocking....
Do they allow us to bring in firewood as I have some to share
I have taken my JRB Sierra Sniveler down to 19 degrees a few times and stayed warm. Gotta love JRB
Thermarest compressible pillow all the way for me. The small weights 7 oz and i will never switch. Could never get comfortable with a blow up pillow
Started with a Hennessey and switched to a Dutch Chameleon. I think I am good to go.
I have the MW3 and have done two trips where the temp hit 19 degrees. I wont go as far as saying I got cold but I felt like I was on the edge. I am a warm sleeper and did have the JRB summer quilt...
I am currently using a Mountainsmith Scream 55 and the ZPacks pack liner. JRB 3 season quilts and everything that I want to stay dry goes in the liner. I then push all that down and get all the air...
I own the Mnt Washington 3 and use it quite successfully with my dutch chameleon. I have had two overnight trips at the 19 degree mark and stayed warm. I wear my heavier long johns when I expect...
the only quilt I can speak to is the JRB Mnt Washington 3. I use it exclusively with my Dutch Chameleon and it works great.
Personally I have the JRB 3 season set of quilts (Mnt Wash 3 and Sierra Sniv). I mainly camp in the mountains of central Va.
I have had two nights over the last couple of years that got down to 19...
I have been putting mine on the ground underneath me and covering them up with a bunch of leaves. No problems with frozen water as of yet. Been down to 19 degrees. May not work at temps colder that...
So I have to eat my words. I backpacked Tar Jacket ridge (AT section in Va) this past weekend and it got down to 19 degrees during the night. Guess who woke up Sunday morning and stuck their head...
I agree with DrPhun, I have been using the Sierra Sniveler since 2015 and have never used the head hole other than to show someone. Its a neat idea but unnecessary IMO. My next top quilt would be...
I use a JRB Quilt Liner / Summer Blanket for a little extra warmth. Definitely adds foot warmth.
We camped over night at Emerald Pond on the Browns Hollow trail this past weekend. https://www.hikingupward.com/GWNF/BrownsHollow/
I would recommend this hike. We woke up Sunday morning and it was...
Terrible news to hear. Here in Va at one of the science museums my adult daughter told me a story of kids doing an over night in the museum. Well a bunch of them were enoing and one girl had hers...
So I can relate to all of the things everyone has listed but I can actually live with all of those and none bother me to badly. My biggest thing is not being able to sleep well. I do have sleep apnea...
This little guy right here https://www.rei.com/product/123727/goal-zero-lighthouse-micro-charge-light is great, my camping buddy has been using one for a couple of years. So I finally picked one up...
KnotHere, I may be taking you up on that later in the year. Recovering from ACL surgery right now. Ramseys is beautiful, we really enjoyed it up there.
I backpacked Ramsey's Draft at the end of September this year and the Draft was completely dry at the parking lot. As we hiked up, there were pools of water along the way. We decided to load up on...
I use a Osprey Atmos 50 AG for backpacking. My HH and WB tarp go in the sleeping bag compartment. I then use a contractor
bag in the main compartment and stuff my quilts clothes and anything else I...
I am using JacksRBetter sierra snivvler TQ and a Mnt Washington UQ with my HH Deep Jungle Asym Zip and have slept comfortably down
to around 26 degrees. Even had to vent a little. I am 100%...
Great comments, I would agree that the second night on a trip was a better sleep night. I guess I will have to always go for at least
two nights so I can get a better nights sleep the second...
Nice work CooOkieCOOon, that tarp looks store bought.
Did an overnighter this past weekend in Virginia. Camped at Hog Camp Gap which is also a great place
to go car camping. We had warm days and a cold Saturday night. For those that know the area we...
Hello everyone, I just started hammock camping last year and am loving it. I am too old to sleep on the ground.
I have done a few trips on the AT and have had a blast so far. Looking forward to...
