The sleeping bag already has baffles so the attachment points would be on the edges where all the other seems are, not any in the load bearing area of my big butt.

Built-in bug net and everything! Nice.
I've made all my own gear mostly because of budget reasons.
Anyway I had a thought the other day about taking an old down sleeping bag and actually sewing it to my hammock as permanently attached...
Thanks, Wanderlost. I'll check it out.
Thanks, Sandman. I like the camo netting, it would match my camp hammock.
But I'm more interested in a pattern to make one that zips on and off to the hammock itself.
I really like my cinched end hammock and I have made a Fronkey Bug net for it, but I would really like to reduce some of the bulk and use an integrated bug net instead.
I have searched and...
I use a small tarp made out of the same material Frog-togg gear is made from. Water proof but light and not to bulky.
Also soft on the feet when ya get up.
Looks like a great spot.
No snow.....
Makes me feel good that I'm not the only one that comes up with this stuff. :)
I made my own hammock and chose camo because I like to blend in while out in the woods.
I'm also an introvert so I don't like to draw much attention. :)
I live in Minnesota. The Mosquito is our unoffical state bird.

I'm 5'11" tall, 340lbs., I first made my hammock at 9ft. but found that my sleeping bag or top quilt kept falling out of the hammock to one side or the other at my feet. I wound up adding a foot to...
Congratz! I look forward to seeing your progress and any mods you add to it.
If I wind up doing a lot of sewing, I might look into this for my machine.
Not sure if it will help with the problem I've been having, my machine doesn't seem to want to pull the thin material...
I originally bought material to make a bridge hammock but wound up making a gathered end hammock with the material instead.
It was 9ft. hammock, it worked fine, but I did notice that with a top...
Looks like a tent more then it does a tarp.
The strap failed. My stitching held solid.
Catastrophic Suspension Failure (DIY 1" poly webbing) HELP?!
Got some green 1 inch poly webbing from Joanne Fabrics and made some tree straps with it.
Used them one weekend and worked just fine....
I'm a big guy myself. I made my own hammock, a double layer out of 1.9oz. ripstop nylon with sinched ends and 1 inch poly webbing for the strapping. Cost me about $60 total.
FYI: 350lbs, 6ft....
I personally like natural colors, I like to blend in.
I think black might get to hot when the sun comes out in the morning unless it was meant for winter camping.
My hammock is woodland camo,...
Awesome! Thank you Shug and Sashasrd.
I'm not sure what the fill power is of the down I have.
I acquired a white goose down comforter from Craigslist for $25., it contains 40oz. of down.

I'm looking at making my own down top quilt and under quilt.
I have spent a good amount of time reading and watching vids on how to do this.
But I haven't really been able to find out really...
Awesome! Thanks for the vids and tips. Gonna have to pull the sewing machine out and get busy.
It got my attention
:( That's disappointing. I can't really afford down right now and was really hoping this would have worked out.
OHHhhh it's so blue! Nice deal on the price of the fabric though.
I like it, nice work.
Looks nice. I'm about to be putting one together myself.
Is there a reason you went with a horizontal zipper instead of a vertical?
Thanks ksbcrocks. Now I don't feel as bad, just need to order some more I guess.
*Slamming head against wall*
You know I read that ebay posting several times and not once did I notice the "by foot".
So much for it being such a great deal. ****.
Looks like it would work in a pinch, that or maybe something you could put under a real tarp for added warmth or heat retention in winter.
It would be cool to find some ripstop nylon that has a...
If there is no chance of rain or snow I will almost always go topless, unless it really cold.
It's awesome waking up with the view of the woods around you.
Just got my material ordered. Found a deal on ebay for 1.3oz. 30d Silnylon Gray 65" Ripstop for $2.25 a yard.
Going to use the Winter tarp pattern or plans from D.I.Y. Gear supply.
I will keep...
I like it. looks nice.
I want to make a bridge hammock and I was using the GrizzBridge by ProfessorHammock as my guide.
In the video he says the one he's making is for a guy that is 5ft. 7in. Tall so he adds another 7...
My plan is to make it double layer for the extra strength but also so I can use a foam pad between the layers for summer camping.
If, or when I ever go winter camping I'll look at actually adding an...
I don't know if this has been done before, I wasn't really able to find much info about building hammocks for people of my weight (330+lbs.)
I have spent the better part of a week and a half...
