I'll take the pillow and under quilt, will you be at the spring hang?
What is the rating of the quilt before the extra stuff?
Still looking
WTB: bushbuddy twig stove.
You access the pond from the fire tower trail head in the deam wilderness, which is very close to the southern end of Nebo trail head. Parking lot
I'm glad you made the long drive to hang out with a few hoosiers, I enjoyed talking and hiking in with you. Had a great time and looking forward to whenever we can get together again.
I'm spending tonight at another site about 30 minutes away from the fire tower, if you want to meet up there around noon just let me know. Or whenever.
Is there anyone planning on being there on Thursday?
I'll see you there yogi.
Good to see fellow hoosier hammock campers, hopefully you can find your way to the hoosier national forest this spring, alot of awesome hanging down there.
Ever try kayak camping across Monroe? There's a lot of good places to camp on the shoreline and seem less used as the hike in sites.
I'm planning on being in the area on Thursday to do some hanging in the rain, don't have a set plan yet, probably somewhere around the deam ,leaning towards Hayes trail .
Or maybe something...
Got it on my calendar, I am hoping to make down there at some point during the weekend. Not for sure exactly when yet.
Being retired must be keeping you busy, alot of honey do's i bet. I might be able to make it down to the deam wilderness in February. If work allows. :(

My idea of a one tree hang.
Works perfectly
I don't think the shock cord was the cause ,I had the exact same thing happen to me ,very strong winds pulled stakes out and whipped back to tarp. Had to place big rocks on the stakes to keep in the...
The hammock gear uq works perfectly with my xlc, no complaints at all.I also have a wb yeti that I use in warmer temps .
I have an older yeti, it has a continuous loop suspension so you can slide it foward or back.
It works well. Really simple.
I am going to try and make it down ,probably just for one night.depends on how much beverage yogi brings. :D
Does this mean you will have extra food and beverages for me too yogi?
Okay, as of now I am planning on being at the trail head Thursday mid afternoon.
Anyone can show up, even if you can't sign up on the sheet. Is anyone planning on going in early, like before Friday evening? I was thinking about going on Thursday if anyone was going to be there.
I am planning on being at the fire tower on Friday sometime around noon, give or take a couple of hours.
Where are you thinking about camping?
I am planning on arriving at the trail head aground 5:30 Friday evening, packed and ready:thumbup:
Yep down the hill and across the creek
Heck yeah i say go for it, I am always looking for new ideas. You never will know unless you tryq.
No there is no official trials into the valley, you turn off the loop trail near campsite number 2 ,head northwest I think about 1/4 of a mile
Yes, I agree about the crowds, I have been checking on other times and I'm thinking about doing some longer hikes and trying to go in late April.
I just wanted to say thanks for all the input from everyone, my first time to AshEville . We traveled the parkway and hiked the pisgah forest ,also craggy gardens and catawba falls, graveyard...
I am going to be staying in Ashville for the weekend, visiting my daughter for fall break at University of North Carolina. I was wondering if anyone could suggest any day hikes or even overnight...
Planning on getting down early, wednesday evening or Thursday.
I'm 6 ft. And I felt I had just enough room to lay still, too small for my comfort.
Hey Indy, welcome, I would definitely suggest a bug net,
It has more advantage than keeping bugs out like keeping personal things from falling out of the hammock also. But I have to admit I have...
I vote for the xlc double layer 1.7.
I have used my 3 season yeti down to 20 * but you will definitely need a pad or something for your feet. A small foam sit pad works well if you keep your feet on it.
Thanks dutch, that's a good idea, I think I will get a snake skin ordered.
Well I do work 40 hours a week and find the time to get out more than 12 times a year, I can afford the tarp, I just was wandering how long other camper s was getting out of tarps the same kind.
I just purchased a new cuben tarp, I am still amazed at the lite weight and how thin and packable this thing is. I take good care of my gear, but I do use it as often as I can, I was hoping to get...
Good job Yogi.......what are we bringing to eat ???
I have a war bonnet yeti 20 degree that weighs less than a pound that I use 3 season's a year. It packs up small and is simple to set up. I only use a full length in the cold weather winter.
Sweet. .....I couldn't agree more.
We voted last year to set a permanent date to have the Halloween hang so people could plan there vacation time to attend. The majority vote was to set the date for the weekend before Halloween.
+ 1 I just swapped out the suspension and now it's a **** nice hammock to carry on day hikes to throw up and
You could be really brave and collect your lint from all the laundry mats in your city, it would save alot of time ,but i kinda like to know who im sleeping with.
Yogi might need to barrow it to eat some free food, .
I am planning on going in a couple of weeks, where did you find that guide book?
Has anyone thought about drinks ? someone could bring some beer, just in case.
As of now, I am planning on being there Monday .
Im betting that with good ole 'EL NINO' it will be sunny and 60* in good ole southeren Indiana. i will bring extra cold weather gear just in case.
