Is that 600 for the three quilts?
Nice weight savings and good tip on the vacume for the dust. The grommets give me concern though- they tend to tearout. You could sew a few reinforcements with added webbing loops instead of the...

Amazing views- looks like the world is so big - thanks for sharing.
On the subject of strength; the threads decrease the wall thickness (strength) of the pipe as well.
a couple of things to consider; 1. I would put a top bar between the upright 4x4's to keep them from flexing when the hammock is loaded, 2. round the edges of the 4x4's- your straps/huggers...
Because of the slight curving- I'm guessing it might be caused by the end channel grogain of the UQ rubbing the hammock?
I have not used any 2.2 hex but it also kinda looks like some of the...
Welcome to the trees and ask away as there are many here to help you. hang low fall less...
You have a solid kit there and setup looks great. enjoy floating in the clouds.
I have never been to Hawaii but from pics/ shows Ive seen- you should be good using 4' huggers. I use a 3' +5' x 1" webbing huggers with UCR's and evo loops with no complaints.
Great solo trip Shug- thanks for sharing. Reminds me of my youth, paddling around the Admirality group of islands on the St. Lawrence river.
A little trick I learned was to tie a 6'-8' cotton rope...
Sorry to hear of your invasion (hope they catch them) but congratulation on loosing the bed. Ditched mine over 7 yrs. ago and never looked back- I've been sleeping better and waking refreshed-...

Karla "with a K", your video won't play- says that the utube acct. has been terminated. You might want to check it out
Sorry to hear about your downfall but glab your pride is intact. You said you made new CL's- did you use the locked brummel or thru splice? Also after melting the Amsteel CL I would expect the becket...

Sad to hear this- prayers go out to his family.

For foul weather I really enjoy my WB superfly when the winds howl and the rain is blowing sideways. You can't stand up under the tarp when in storm mode but it will keep me and my kit dry, I'm 5'...
Good to know- thanks.
Would tenasious tape stick to silpoly/ silnylon?
Thanks for sharing your walkabout- nice looking countryside. Good on you for not crossing that creek. Fifty odd years ago a friend of mine drown trying to cross a similar swollen 'creek'. I wasn't...
When your looking up check for any signs of mistletoe - a bushy looking waxy leafy fungus that grows on dead/ dying hardwood. We have a lot of it in the area right now. Some of these trees are 4'+ in...
You might try hanging it up in front of a bright light. Try vertically and horizontaly - if there is a damaged baffle you should see excessive down in one of the adjoining chambers. If all the...
This sounds like it will be very interesting. Looking forward to your pcast.
Welcome from Oklahoma, My mothers' side of the family is from Scotland- Sands. I'm hanging for the same reasons.
Would it be possible to set the clews up (read adjustable) in such a way that the shoulder and foot corners of the clew will be longer than the off shoulder/ foot portions of the quilt? Then the...
This is a very good idea- if it can be done? I was just thinking the same thing- sitting here and looking at my nightly sleeper? Inquiring minds are curious?
Sorry to say, I know nothing about zippers but I'm sure there are folks here that do. Donna from 2QZQ has made many zipper mods for hammockers- She is now associated with dutchware - you might check...
This should work and it will definately increase the floor area. One thing- don't forget to allow for your seam/ hem allowance, + 1/2" to maybe +1" on all three sides of each piece. Simple double...
That's a good looking mod on the wooki. How well does it seal up to the RR with you in it? are you still happy with the fitup to the XLC, after the mod?
^^^^^^^ excellent solution !
I do not think this is possible because an UQ is cut/ made with a dual differential design that is suspended. You would probably have to add side channels for the suspension to run in. Also, I'm not...
Nicely done- good eye for detail. I may do something similar, as I sleep every nite hanging in the living room and need to remove the hammock daily. YKWTS- happy wife, happy life.
To answer your last question, first- Buy a enough bags of charcoal or mulch or whatever, to equal your weight @250*. this will let you watch the anchor points as you load the hammock, but my guess is...
Ok Heavyhiker, thanks for the info. that helps.
Nicely done, you should be very proud. That sewn footbox has been one of the things holding me back also. Just can't see it.
Does the UP insulation pack down like a 20* down quilt or is it like an 20* APEX quilt- volume?
For those of you that have had a 'ZIPPO' lighter you'll know to shake/ drain all the extra liquid fuel after fueling or they WILL leak. This can cause a chemical burn to the skin and will also melt/...
If you are serious about hanging in subzero temps, I would recommend trying it close to somewhere you can bail out/ in to if things don't work out so well ie; back yard, park, or close to a trailhead...
Do you think the delaminate layer is the waterproofing layer?
Do you have a local repair shop? Something knocking is not good and I would not use it until I figured out what the issue was. just a mechanics $0.02
arutha, you can probably find a snowmobile mask or skier mask. My daughter and her husband were on a cycle trip and ran into cold/ and stopped at a motorcycle dealer and got a couple nice insulated...
Nice PC and video Shug. Really surprised to hear that folks who know you won't let you have a "waterpistol". Impressive that the comforter arrangement kept the wind from robbing your warmth while...
I would 'patch' it with the same material- I'm not sure if gluing or hand stitching, or maybe both would be best? Round off the corners of the patch or use a round patch. Another option is tenacious...
