My wife and I are thinking about upgrading or regular jungle hammocks to the SL jungle hammocks. She has the 2 base layer and I have an original. Can anyone tell me about their personal experience...
Fun hammock hanging in the fall.
WOW!! Thanks to all those who attended the first spring hang at Goose Island state park. Even though there were some initial hiccups with getting sites sorted , It all worked out. I believe the final...
I have a large canopy I will be bringing. I am about to head out there and grab our spots, then I will go grab the wood. As you guys arrive just look for the trailer of Viking kayaks marking the base...
There is not a "Group" reservation just individuals. It appears that all of the water/electric sites are now booked. I believe that we have an extra site. The "primitive" sites are still available...
Weather looks like 70* nighttime, 75*daytime, 30% chance of showers Sat. High humidity all weekend, mild wind
"Mongo likes candy."
Bet that flies over the younger heads. Awesome movie "blazing saddles"
OK we reserved the last 3 spots in the wooded area with water/electric. we will hold those until people show up on friday to keep us all together.
Rays have been really light this past year and the bottom around the park isn't conducive to them. We will be doing some Cajun boiled LOCAL shrimp from our fish monger, so there will be seafood at...
I will be heading out to talk to rangers today/tomorrow so update spreadsheet if you have reservations. Kayaking in the area offers many opportunities for many wind situations. Fishing has been good...
Our water has been in the 70s which makes the fish happy. Shrimp catch everything , but I use pure artificials. Spook jrs and paddletails will be fine around the shore and from the pier. As far as...
It should be mesquite and should be dead. I will contact him to make sure. The rangers at this park are awesome.
Point of clarification. Goose Island State Park is in Rockport not Corpus. We are way better than those hoodlums.
105587 Firewood may be covered, I have a friend doing some clearing closer to our date. Spoken with the rangers about grouping us and will meet with them next week with a list of names from...
I will have 5 kayaks(one is a tandem) available and some fishing gear. We are looking at sites 107-118 first then some others in the warbler way section . You can't book specific sites online, so I...
we are looking at the "wooded areas" as of 0930 March 7th there are 25 sites available. I will look into getting a "block" of sites to help those not yet reserved. Also I will be headed out to the...
You do hang a bit tighter than other hammocks. I tend to sleep on my side mostly straight
I will check out the warbler way sites for when we grow out of the Bayberry
There is also UT marine science institute. I know a few people at TAMUCC, mostly their fishing team. :)
Just went out to park to confirm everything with the Rangers. I will be letting them know who I have confirmed on the spreadsheet the week before the event so they can start blocking off sites for...

yes wooded area. Looking at the sites on Bayberry 107-118 will be the optimal with plenty of spots in each space for gather. If you want some "alone space" 225 and 219 in Live oak circle have good...
I actually do use mine. I have not found any gaps even in rain. In colder climate I use a SL tarp over my jungle hammock with it's tarp on, then string up the underblanket. This week is going to...
I will be setting up a spreadsheet soon.
I just got back from a weekender at the park and there were plenty of hanging options. We were in sites 107,108 and 118. Even got a few Grounders interested in hammocks. Hope to see you guys there in...
For those with Kayaks, this is an AWESOME park to paddle and fish from. Weather allowing I may be doing a sat morning run for some reds and trout. The pier is also outstanding and does not require a...
I have started a new thread with correct dates
OK here is the new thread with the new date.
Starting a thread about a possible hang at Goose Island State Park in April. This should give Spring Breakers time to clear out and the annual...
THE NEW DATE IS APRIL 10-12, 2015 MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!
I will ask the rangers tomorrow what Eater weekend is like. That may cause a shift. Please stand by.
As a resident of Rockport I might take offense to the comments about the mosquitoes
If it weren't true :boggle:
But seriously... they shouldn't be bad then.
Yep I used a Lost Ranger 15* and she used a Summit Park 15* as top quilts.
Starting a thread about a possible hang at Goose Island State Park in April. This should give Spring Breakers time to clear out and the annual migration of the spring birds to come in. Not to mention...
Well my wife and I ran the DD jungle Hammocks in about 37*F with the DD underblankets and a big agnes sleeping bag. Hers is the 2 layer and mine is the single layer. We were both quite comfortable...
maybe you guys just need to visit and try it out some more :)
We are home safe and still glowing from our first event. IS IT 2015 YET!!!
Do I need to bring my canopy for Sat potluck? It is a 12x12 with wings that extend its shade 10ft on either side. We should be there tomorrow. YEAH!!!
Why dont we start a "menu" for sat night pot luck.
We are bringing about 20lbs of Spicy Dr.Pepper shredded pork
94543 This is one setup that we tried. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NH7GniZocwo&list=UU4UfpuDsRHzinOWBXoD4ewA this is a video of another setup.
we have the xl skins and LOVE THEM. just tie to a tree and whoosh, instant hammock.
just got our new DD underquilts in, YEAH. So that makes us officially and completely Team DD. We may even make it out there thursday night.
we have the Texas Hang in Nov to really get a chance to test ours out hopefully.
the second layer is sewn on to create a pocket for her sleeping pad. I have the single layer and love it, because I am not quite the cold sensitive person and like feeling that cooling breeze.
we just got our new DD UQ and can't wait to try them out.
I will be bringing a Tarpon T160, Viking Reload, and a Viking Tandem
I always say that my snoring keeps the bears away.
My wife uses the 2 layer one and enjoys it. She keeps her sleeping pad in there and slides the whole thing in an XL sleeve.
Just got another jungle hammock, this time a single base layer and a SL tarp. All that's left is to get 2 Under blankets and I think we will be set. We are going to the Texas Hang to represent DD.
I plan on bring a few kayaks to share as well
X2 is it possible to source a "wood drop" locally. We have done some larger campouts with groups in the past and had a local guy deliver a 1/2 cord that we all shared.
just got our reservation in!!! there is only one spot left.
