My first hammock was a cheap net hammock I picked up from somewhere in the 90's...I had a few of the worst nights sleep I've ever had in that thing but I was young and stupid back then and didn't...
Oooo, that is pretty hot. And this is why I love the forums, each time I swing back by I learn something new I want to try. I really don't need to do this at all but now I think I...
I tend to lurk more than post these days but I have to say, don't knock the shock cord until you've tried it. I put mine on just like the video Shug posted about 15 years ago and they're still going...
Dang I haven't posted in a LONG time...but I have to chime in here. 2mm Dynaglide is precisely what I have been hanging from for the last 10 years or so, it is MOST definitely good enough for the...
#3 sit pad!
Wow, this is cool...I haven't won anything in ages! I originally posted because I agree with MoonBear, this is an awesome place that has helped many a folk get into hanging and hopefully will help...
You pretty much HAVE to find the studs to make this work. You can buy a stud finder at your local hardware store, you'll need to get some stuff to mount it to the wall anyway so go ahead and get that...
Yep, thanks to ALL the great info on this site. I hang with Dutch gear, my wife hangs with dutch gear, my 2 year old hangs with dutch gear. I've passed Derek's book along to many a potential...
Well, I run a Dynaglide suspension and ridgeline on my Warbonnet Blackbird and here are some thoughts:
I'm about 20# heavier now than when I installed it but at about 195# I haven't noticed any...
Don't get on here much anymore but for my vote, whoopies all the way...mostly because I already have them. As far as weight savings goes, when I converted to dynaglyde that took care of most the...
I love the Jack's River...for that matter all the Cohutta wilderness. Sounds like you had a blast.
Yep, first thing I did in the new house was set up a basement hanging position. I too can always fall asleep in the hammock when the nights keep me up...though a latex bed has helped a bunch with...
Yep, don't give up. Sorry to hear you had a frustrating 1st try...it does seem complicated at the VERY 1st, and this forum is crazy overwhelming with the amount of info here. You had a really good...
Yep, I've been in a bunch of rain....the tenters always come a running. :) I don't have a snake for my hammock, just the tarp but there are several ways that I've done it.
Left the hammock in...
Let me know if this is still up for grabs
Sure is beautiful right now down here in Georgia! Have fun my friend
too bad it's over 100 lbs, pretty cool though
I've been through a number of gully washers in my hammock and there are two pretty effective ways to keep your gear dry from what I've seen.
I have a larger tarp so I just S-biner the pack to...
gotta love northern GA. those are some pretty trails, I was just up at Raven Cliff falls the other day myself
Ya, I have to say I am SOLD on the Aarn pack. It is without a doubt the best pack I've hiked with. My front pockets sit a bit away from my chest but I get zero pressure on my shoulders. I am able...
The Jacks is great, but really don't fool yourself...you will get wet, a lot!:scared: It might be quite a bit more challenging with the weather getting colder but it was one of my favorite trails so...
Does anyone know the material that Warbonnetguy uses for the top seam of his tarps? I have a Superfly that I love, but my girlfriend is more of a DIY person so we are trying to figure out what the...
Ok what does MSLS mean? I've seen TiredFeet use it in regards to the SlowBro woopie sling suspension post.
Hey all, I wanted to give a quick run down of my most recent trip. It won't be as cool as some but fun nonetheless.
4 of us started out Saturday September 11 and drove north from Atlanta to the...

it seems like I don't ever get to ask any questions...I spend a few minutes looking and someone has already asked it. ha! Thanks guys! Just finished converting a cheap o lap quilt into an underquilt...
Looks to me like that is an old Suzuki LJ50 or some other such predecessor of the Suzuki Samurai. Though the grill is a bit different than I remember, am I right?
Great trip by the way!! I...
wow looks just about perfect! Would love to catch a GA hang.....anybody game?
yep, welcome from another GA hanger seems like there are a lot of us here, proceed with caution!
yep, welcome! I just got back from a week long hang in Arkansas....man it was over too soon. I agree with the Hennessey being the best deal and pretty comfortable, that was my first hammock. Each...
Nothin like the Buffalo, man I love Arkansas
Ya I have to agree. Maybe it was my crazed excitement but it was like hell trying to adjust the buckles! All I wanted to do was lay down in the BB but couldn't get the buckle to release....I'll have...
Well I got my blackbird on Saturday, just now posting cause I've been busy playing with the darn thing! Very comfy, stretches a bit more than I thought it would...maybe I need to loose a little...
great 1st hang!! I hope to get mine this week sometime!
Oh ya, a mere 8 days after the order I just received the 'your package is in the mail' notice!! WOOOOOOOOO BUDDY, to quote shug, I can't wait!
PM sent! Hope it's still for sale
I hate you all :(
not really, happy hanging!
Ha no...though maybe soon, she was not opposed to the idea but get this...it was the first time she had ever been camping:eek: maybe well go a few more times on hard, uneven, thorny ground then I'll...
not a great solution but you could try those 'hot feet/hot hands' warming packs. I use them when I ride my motorcycle in the winter they work quite well....ha
do I smell a GA hang in the near future?
My bike didn't have much room on it but the hammock fit nicely in the saddlebag and the insulation made for a nice backrest strapped behind me and in front of the tail bag as I rode.
I'd like to know more about those 1" buckles! any chance they will be on my BB Brandon?? hint, hint...gladly pay for them of course. This is defiantly good to think about, great customer service...
are you running the tarp over or under your ridge line?
Sad face, I do not have a shipping confirmation :( I suppose I'll just wait. (slinking away from the computer with a pouty lip to actually do work instead of playing on hammock forum)
I was just about to ask this question, beat me to the punch! Thanks.
Check the weather before you go! Ha.
I'd say your in bigger trouble than just adjusting your hammock at that point, having lived through a plethora of tornadoes and one BIG hurricane if...
Lest we not forget that Jim_S is hanging a hammock, just take a look at his pics on the "tent hammock" thread. I think he has no arguments with the superior comfort just observations as to how he...
I wonder, could you put something on the webbing to shed the water...silicone spray, scotch guard or some such nonsense? Great review by the by, gives me something to look forward to when my WBBB...
Thanks all, hey did I see one of you GA peeps just north of Amicalola Falls a couple of weekends ago?....definitely someone with a sling up, sadly I was in a tent that weekend with my girlfriend.
