I'm from Western Washington, only seen one tick in 54 years on this side of the mountains. We just weren't willing to set up the tent in tall grass when there was a tick sitting on the first blade...
My wife and I drove through that exact area looking at sites a day or two before this happened. We didn't stick around due to some tall grass in most of the sites and having seen a tick the day...
Marlin spike hitch zing-it to ground stake, pull to desired tension and plant stake at 90 degree angle to the angle of the line.

Maybe I'm easy, but getting off the ground was such a vast improvement in comfort that I was happy with my first. I bought a Hennessy Expedition Asym Zip as it was one of the first I'd come across...
600' of amsteel makes waaaay too many whoopie slings, dog bones, and continuous loops for one hammock. Now I have 3 hammocks. Trying not to buy more hammocks so the amsteel doesn't go to waste....
I believe that Hexon was the only choice in fabrics for the chameleon when I ordered. I've read good things about Hexon being very cloth like and I agree.
I have a DIY hammock made of HyperD 1.6...
I just bought a Chameleon in Hexon 1.2, VERY soft. Doesn't feel like it's overly stretchy compared to my DIY HyperD 1.6. only had a chance to hang out once as it's been raining non-stop since...
Will it damage the CPAP after extended use? The battery description makes note that the 24v output is not continuous. My CPAP is way too expensive for me to trust what it may do without consistent...
I car camp with mine using a renogy lithium phosphate 12v battery, but that'd be way too heavy to backpack with. Unfortunately I need an ASV machine so there are no light alternatives.

I used the stock suspension on my old Hennessey until I realized how slow it was, and adjustments were never any fun. Then I went DIY with Whoopie slings, but found I usually couldn't find trees at...
You can always get someone else to fish around for them with you still in it... Lol

Just to whet the appetite, Mt. Rainier comes into full windshield view as you near the trail head on FR59:...
But probably not very comfortable.
Taken at an old history museum in Vernonia,...
That's gotta look like some alien birth scene when you crawl out of that thing!

Hennessey Expedition Asym Zip (2016-present) - Seems plenty comfy to me at 5'8". I received a free Scout hammock when I bought it that my wife still uses to this day. See no need to replace...
I use this method for my silnylon tarp:

Are you using a desktop or the Flickr app? I can copy the URL with the app but no code. Haven't figured out how to insert a picture verses just having a clockwise link.
Lol... My "path" was a gap between two trees in a camping spot with picnic table and fire ring. Had no idea animals were going to ramble through all night. Looking at it in the daylight I probably...
Pitched my tent in the dark on a major animal trail once, lost track of how many times something hit my tarp tieouts. It was the only flat, dry spot I could find by head lamp. Glad it wasn't an ATV...
Hello from Grand Mound. The wet prairie.
Scary how fast the simplest trip can get dangerous. Glad you got out to tell the tale.
Have not had this happen to me since I started sleeping in hammocks, but it IS the reason I switched to hammocks. Pulled in late one evening to a camp ground near Crater Lake and every site was 6...
I have a Caribou bag I bought in 1989 that might have been the same company if they keep bag names over the years. I've taken it all over the Western third of the US and Alaska and it's still going...
What temperatures you looking to cover? Summer quilts I'd probably go with the draw string foot box. As you start dropping in temps I'd lean towards a sewn for box.
I seem to pump out moisture from my feet overnight. The night I stayed out in 23 degrees Fahrenheit the outside of the hammock and underquilt were frosted up pretty good. My quilt near my head was...
Had it happen this year at Yosemite. I was a little worried it might tear the tarp but it slid off without incident. Getting into the truck on the other hand was a pain. Not sure how hard you can...
I was setting up camp at Ochoco Divide Campground in Oregon a few years ago when a young couple parked their car at one of the walk in sites. They put their camping gear on the picnic table to mark...

Rodents can leave chocolate tic-tacs everywhere they go even if they're not chewing on something. Double check your shoes if you leave them on the ground.
HG Incubator 30 degree for me and a Warbonnet Thunderfly for my wife. Wife stays dry and I get to stay in my warm hammock without being yelled at. [emoji16]

15 to 17 feet as others have said. I tend to just use a becket hitch of straps to continuous loops now. With an 11ft hammock and 15ft tree spacing I was pretty much cinching the woopies all the way...
