Finally found some time and decent weather to take some pics of my tarp. It is done except for the pullouts. I've kind of had this project on hold as I have been finishing up a bridge hammock, but...
Finished one corner of my tarp tonight. I got a lineloc 3 (love 'em) on the tip and a beastie D behind that just for a backup or if I opt for an internal pole mod down the...
Not sure how much weight will be in the hammock, but you might want something stronger for your continuous loops/suspension.

Finished adding grosgrain to the ridgeline...
Here's the corner reinforcements...https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191115/2837902201513fda56be8eff11382118.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191115/c6754411ffaa0911ac5af1ce8e567664.jpg

Yeah, I can try to get some pics up when I'm done. This is very much a back-burner project, so who knows when I'll finish. I got a good amount done this weekend, but who knows when my next...
I cut them Sunday evening. I did 3" over the 11.5 ft. Ultra-conservative, I know, but that's OK with me. I want to err on the side of more coverage. I decided not to add cat cuts on the vertical...
I have heard this before, and this may ultimately be correct. However, I already have a rectangular silpoly tarp and I feel that some minor cat cuts might help the sides and that long bottom edge...
Thanks Red! In your opinion, on the conservative to aggressive spectrum, would this 4-6% be moderate? I'm wanting to lean on the conservative side, as I know the straight edge of the cloudburst is...

Hey guys,
Just wondering if anyone has a suggestion for the depth of cat cuts for my tarp. I am making a rectangular tarp that will end up being a couple inches over 11ft long when finished. I am...
The "extra needed space between trees" issue is real. After getting burned a couple times on camping trips and not being able to hang, it has made me gun-shy (a lot of my camping is on float trips...
I had to seal the ridgeline on my cloudburst.

I got an order in, so thanks for the heads up!
As a follow-up question, are you all still doing the remnants update emails (I forget what they were called...VIP emails maybe)? I don't think I got...
Great, thanks!

I know you all are busy over there, but just wondering if remnants will be sold anymore? I haven't seen any posted in quite a while.

My old NylonD (1.6 I think?) is still my favorite hammock. The feel hasn't been beat yet, and it has just the right amount of stretch for me.

I get it. I hate repeats as well in camo patterns. The privacy X is a good one too. The repeat didn't jump out at me from your pic though. Maybe the shadows helped break it up.

Really like that A-Tacs pattern. If I ever talk myself into making another tarp, it'd probably be with that camo.

As for the suspension hole, just end your zipper before you get up to the top of the tarp to leave a hole.

I've got a nice WL Bullfrog that has Velcro closures on the doors. One thing I do not like about the Velcro is that it is loud. Nothing like opening that thing up in the middle of a silent night......
It's for sale on Amazon. Check it out

I got this same one several years ago too. I use it with a sheet of hardboard and am completely satisfied with the results. I'm sure the "real" tools for the job are somehow better, but for me, their...
I think he means whoopie slings coming down from the ceiling anchors to the ridgepole ends. Seems like a good idea.

Oh boy! Hope this is like the old NylonD! I have an old NylonD hammock that I've baby'd because it is my favorite hammock fabric.
Thanks Dutch squad!

The bobbins are extraneous and possibly a liability (as in this case). My two cents are just skip them.

I agree with all the points hutzelbein mentions.

Well, there are at least 2 kinds of lube in your machine...there is oil and there is grease. I think you probably wiped off extra grease. Mine was sloppily greased from the factory as well. The...
I felt the same way when I first got my 4423. However, after using it for a while, either the pedal became less touchy or I got used to it because I don't have a problem controlling the speed...
Yep, the intermittent nature of the sticking is why I lived with the problem for so long before dealing with it. Eventually mine stuck and wouldn't get unstuck. Probably not the best on your machine...
Hey, here's my post about this issue. I guess my machine was actually older than I thought before trying to fix it...
...
I have had this issue. I have the same machine as well. I believe it is in need of lubrication. I hesitate to offer advice on how/where to lube the machine because I didn't know what I was doing, but...

Forgot to take a couple pics of a partial topcover I made as well, so here it is along with the tarp in porch mode. The top cover fabric is 1.1...
Thanks PlusOne. The only thing I copied was Dutch's chameleon net. I bought one and used it as a template. The hammock body is pretty straightforward. The end caps I made by measuring 1) how far from...
Just showing off my recently completed hammock and tarp combo. I was gonna put this in the DIY section, but realized I bought almost everything for this project from Dutch so putting it here just...
+1 for NylonD. That's my favorite for sure. Wish it would make a comeback. HyperD is close but not quite as comfy for me.

I don't think there is as much muscle required as fiddling. Start with putting it on one side first (like on the video), and then do the other side. When you get the teeth to mesh up correctly they...
I'd make them long enough to attach to your tarp stakes. You may end up not actually attaching them there, but it is good to have that as an option...saves you from having to put out the extra...
Reminds me of Bic's bridge hammock saddlebags. Haven't seen them on a gathered end before. Do they work OK for you? Seems like the sides may be a little droopy.

Not that it won't work, but probably most people would opt for a lighter fabric to make topquilts out of. You may want to take that 1.6 hyperD and make a couple of hammocks out of it (this is my...
This seems right to me Cruiser. You may want to extend the length of ridgeline grosgrain past the ends of tarp to incorporate the tieouts instead of adding extra pieces afterwards.

I've also got some old-school aluminum Dutch clips that don't scrunch up the strap. I like these (plus they are cheaper than titanium clips), and I think you can still get them from JRB, or email...
I'm hanging right now, and my old polyester straps do the same thing. I have wondered about this too...
Yeah I think you're right. Your post piqued my curiosity, so after I posted I spent a minute doing a quick search and didn't find much of anything in the #3 size. I didn't look on Amazon or EBay, so...
There's probably hundreds of places online. Ripstop by the Roll has them.

I think someone could draw some laughs if they were to construct a hammock with banana covered fabric.

I'm not sure I understand why you need to suspend the cot. Cots suspend you with no trees needed. Looks like you got a nice solid and level ground to set the cot on too. Not trying to be a smarta$$....
Sorry I can't remember specifics, but I know this has been played around with here on the forum not too many years ago. It might take some creative search terms to find it.
I think they may have...
