zzzleeper,
For whatever it's worth, I second pretty much everything that folks here have already suggested.
And I will add my support for the idea of getting a Dream Hammock, since I got a DH...
I agree--those colors look absolutely beautiful together!
Since it's already shipped, do you think it'll arrive in time for you to take for spin this weekend?
Regardless, congrats on your...
You think so? Huh, I'm not sure. It doesn't appear to have zipper hoods at the ends and it seems to have tie-out points on the body/side of the hammock. It also looks like there's a pocket (or...
It's a great way to test your rig in all different situations! And for me, a solid incentive to keep getting out!.
Yeah, this does sound like an awesome idea! I'm in, too.
Here are a...
I bought my Dutchware 2 inch wide Spider Web Huggers back in late January 2019. I used them first with my older HH Expedition A-sym Classic--and loved them!
But I had purchased two 5' long...
I'm a bit late to the thread, but I wanted to chime in and say that I really enjoyed this episode. Very informative and hilarious, too--Rhys is a really funny guy! I hope you guys have him on again...
Sounds great! Looking forward to seeing some pics.
P.S.: To answer your question: "At least one more."
I don't think you need to worry about competing with Shug or only showing something that's...
MDCrab, sounds awesome! If you get a chance to take some pictures, I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd love to see them. :)
Indeed! Although I only have some of the components of the set, namely, the burner, the stainless steel bottle with nesting cup, and the bottle hanger. I got them in June and have been using them...
So, over last weekend (16-17 March 2019), the weather finally cooperated and I was able to get some decent* photos of my Sparrow in the wild. I figured out the whole whoopie sling adjustment bit...
Thanks! I have the one that Warbonnet sells. Last weekend was the first time I've used them, but I really like them a lot. I don't know if I'll always carry them when backpacking, but I love how...
That's a great pic--looks really nice hanging with the snow in the background.
Huh. Yeah, that sounds like a reasonable explanation.
What kind of tree straps/huggers do you use? I read...
hang-anon,
I'm glad that you had a chance to sleep in your new Sparrow and that you were able to alleviate the hyperextension issue.
Just speaking for myself, I'd love to see any photos you've...
BikecampRu,
Both of your Dream Hammocks look great--I especially love the OutdoorINK Fallen Branches pattern on your Sparrow! I really like that fly, too. Nice!
For anyone who's interested, I...
I went to Prince William Forest Park (a National Park), near Quantico, VA on Saturday, 2 March 2019. We did some orienteering during the morning and afternoon and got to our campsite at Oak Ridge...
I've been to Madison, WI once, but not for recreation. I've never been able to get up to either Wisconsin or Minnesota for any camping or backpacking--those are definitely places I want to go,...
Yeah, there are quite a few options--all depends on what you want to do and how far you're willing to drive!
How about you? Are you able to find places to camp nearby or do you need to travel a...

Lol! I'm sure they never, ever have any mishaps.
Thanks!
No probem! And those colors look beautiful in-person. If you're anything like me, then you're going to love that color combination!
That looks awesome--I'm sure you'll be...
The Dream Team finished my hammock yesterday and it's been shipped!
Here's a link to the final build details and photos, for anyone who'd like to take a look:

Hey, Led!
I'll try to answer your questions as best as I can, but I would definitely recommend that you start a new thread in the "Hammock Camping>Weather Protection" subforum to get the best...
Yeah, the Smurfs are unbelievably helpful. It's been great to work with them to refine the details of my hammock order!
Regarding your search for a tarp, I will say that I just got my WB Superfly...
That sounds like it's gonna be pretty sweet, Led! I think the combination of Dark Olive and Foliage should look great.
Congrats!
Sleepy
Yeah, it does look like it could get a bit buggy. But maybe your campfire and one or two citronella candles will hold them at bay.
I always bring a few of those when I'm car camping and I've...
That would be an entirely different vid
Lol!!
Nice video and a beautiful location. Thanks for posting it here!
And, yes, I would be willing to eat the dolphin, as long as it...
Okay, thanks. I don't generally bring much extra clothing, either, except in the winter--and I tend to sleep with almost all of that on when it's cold.
So I might have the same issue you did. ...
raftingtigger,
I don't have any particular suggestions beyond what you stated as your current design goals, but I did want to say that this sounds like a really cool idea and hope that it gets...
Shug is a tough act to follow!
But to add to all of the good information and advice that he gave you, I can tell you that the Sparrow has a removable overcover which is meant to help retain some...
Yeah, the weather predictions for next weekend are showing a good possibility of rain around here, too. But I think my WB Superfly will do just fine. So, as long as the hammock arrives in time, I...
That looks beautiful! i really like that Forest Floor pattern and the Foliage color. The inner layer for mine is Foliage 1.2, so it should look a lot like your 1.6!
Since you'll be picking it up...
Got one of these a few years back but stopped using it after not too long. Simple and light, just didn't do it for me.
Can I ask what it was that you didn't like? Not very comfortable or...
I don't have one of these yet, but I've been thinking about getting one--Zpacks makes a Pillow Dry Bag (it's about halfway down the page at that link).
The outer bag is made from 1.0 Dyneema...
Awesome--sounds delicious!
I'll have to try setting up that way the next time I go on a trip with some friends.
Yep! It looks like it may be less than a week from being done, so then it's just the wait for the box--maybe by next weekend!! :)
Absolutely gorgeous location and great pictures!
I really like how you have the long axis of the hammocks and tarps aligned for two of the hammocks--I'm guessing that allowed you to move between...
To be honest, this doesn't sound like something I'd do with this uberlight webbing. Maybe get some cheap, heavy poly for that.
I would really agree with cmoulder here.
I'm neither an...
Yeah, they have options for asym right lay, asym left lay, or symmetrical lay that will be built into the hammock itself.
I don't think that the lay is a function of the net/overcover, but rather...
Looked it up on Google Play--I think it's definitely worth the price, so I got the app.
Just one more confirmation that the HF community is awesome. Thanks, commanderkeen! :D
Sleepy
Okay, will do. It sounds like a great event and I hope to be able to attend.
Oh, okay, that's interesting. It'll just be me, so the group site won't be an option. But I appreciate the info!
I think I might just go back to Sky Meadows SP again. Beautiful park and really...
That has got to be one of the coolest websites ever! Awesome--thanks for linking to that!
Yeah, that seems to often be the case.
I was hoping to head there this weekend, since their website indicates that the campgrounds are open all year. But the reservation website showed no sites...
That's okay, thanks for letting me know!
This is still a very informative thread, as they don't appear to have updated any of their online documents to include any rules about, or mention of,...
I'm interested in coming to this, though I can't commit at this point.
It would be great, though--haven't been to the Natural Bridge area since about the mid-1990s and it's such a beautiful place,...
Deb,
Have you (or has anyone else) been back to Westmoreland State Park since you posted this thread? Are they still good to go with hammocks being hung adjacent to the tent pads? I've got 2...
That sounds bad. Would you please explain this part some more.
Yeah, I agree and would definitely like to hear more about this.
I just bought the 2 inch wide version of the Spider Web...
jlee503,
I'm kind of in the same boat as you--same age group (closing in on 50...fast, perhaps a bit closer to 50 than you...)--and did a lot of backpacking in the 80s and 90s, but a lot less...
Yeah, I just can't stop myself from checking! :jj:
It is cool seeing the pictures of all the other new hammocks as they get finished, though, and watching as my build slowly moves up the list!
Excellent! :thumbup1:
Okay, sounds good. I haven't ever had any gear that used the 1.0 Hexon, but if that's stretchier than the 1.2 and yet still comfortable, then I'm sure my two layers of 1.2 should be fine.
Thanks!
