I have a Jacks r Better Greylock 4 0 degree I would like to sell. I have a few under quilts and this is one that I never use. It has only been used in my yard for a short hang. I have Never slept in....
That’s cool! It’s always fun to design things that solve a problem. Or even just for the fun of making it. Glad to see it works. I don’t have a chair but could see this solving a lot of problems!
Welcome back! Thanks for posting. I hope your experience is better this time. We all look forward to hearing more from you in the future!
If it doesn’t stink and it’s not dirty I wouldn’t worry about it. I would wash it by hand in my bath tub and hang dry it. A few others have said this as well. I do the same thing with my down coats...
I have a blackbird xlc and feel like it would be perfect if it was 2” wider. But 62” is honestly a pretty good width for me. I’m 6 ft and 210 lbs. I feel like anything over 64 is loose and wasted...
Can you drive to this land and have easy access? If so I would just take it in and out every time. If not you could always try your idea with some old coats this spring and see if it gets humid and...
Welcome! I’m glad to hear you have been enjoying yourself and solving a lot of problems. What will make it even more enjoyable is when other become involved in it because of what you teach them!...
Yes I’m glad this was posted! I do this a lot when the temps drop. It’s nice to get into a warm quilt or bag! And it stays hot for a long time! Glad it helped!
I use warbonnet a guy line they sell. But I add bungee cord to my tarp d rings and connect my guy line to that. I tend to over tighten tarps so that helps with that as well as the wind not stressing...
So I own a ridgerunner and really enjoy it. I have let a few others sleep in it and they feel the same way. It is just a well built and comfortable hammock. Since I don’t know your height and weight...
Beetle buckles rocks. You can keep your dirty sap covered straps in their own bag. That’s a big pro for a system that connects and disconnects from the continuous loop on each end of the hammock....
I could see both ways being useful. If it’s not attached to the ridge line you could center the prusik loop over your hammock before attaching the tarp. That could be beneficial if it’s super windy...
My mom has taught me a few things along the way. I have made a few nice sit pads but no quilts. A lot of older women like to make quilts out of old jeans or other fabric. Maybe you could get one to...
I have a hammock gear top quilt and really like it. But I would like to try a warbonnet diamond back. I have a few underquilts from them and they are top notch gear.
Those are great pictures! Thank you for sharing. That fog makes it look awesome! How deep is the snow?
I have a GreyLok 4. I know it’s not exactly an older model. You interested?
yeah it’s weird how all the stuff works out. I have not gone crazy over different fabrics and weaves. It’s too much to remember lol. HG makes a great product!
Welcome to the forum! A big reason I started looking into a hammock was the uneven ground and lack of flat spots (if you don’t take the time to dig one out) the Rocky Mountains have. So I can relate...
Have you slept in both over night? That’s when I really start to notice the difference. A heavier fabric with less stretch might cause or resolve pains or issues you had with the other. But I do...
Cool thank you! But yes I do agree with you. It is important to know your limits and be safe. I have good gear and know I can do it. Just never been there in the winter. Thank you!
I have done a few good hikes in the sawtooth range during the spring and summer. I did the loop hike that leaves from Petit Lake as well as a few others. But I have been wanting to take a snow shoe...
Yes thank you for sharing! It looks like a good time. I love how calm it is when it’s snowing. Best sleep ever!
Welcome to the forum. I was the same way with being a lurker lol. We look forward to seeing your trip reports!
I really need to visit the boundary waters. That’s is some beautiful stuff. Was it crowded when you went?
Yeah I hate waiting. But it’s probably good for us to learn patience lol
Have you put a snake skin on your tarp? They can make it pretty fast to put away. And are the Dutch buckles your talking about the beetle buckles? I think old gringo is correct though. I would bet...
Dude! I have been dreaming of going to the wind rivers for a while now! That looks amazing. And that was a good sized Brook Trout. I’m glad you had the opportunity for some solitude. There are so...
You were right! The video turned out great! I’m sure you feel the same way , but a video can’t do mountains like that justice. They are really good at making a person feel small. But they can also...
I have stuffed it into the shelf on my Warbonnet Blackbird XLC. It’s crazy how much stuff can be shoved into that thing. You could always put it in you pack and have it standing up next to your...
I agree with TominMN. :thumbup1:
That’s a cool story! One you will never forget! Thanks for sharing man. I need to look into those poles. They looks pretty cool.
Like others have said it changes with the weather as I’m sure you are already well aware of. I have used a hammock now for a few years for hunting and backpacking. It is WAY easier to carry the extra...
That place looks amazing! It’s always a good time explaining how amazing hammocks are to people who haven’t used them. Glad you had a good trip! Thanks for sharing.
It’s funny how that works isn’t it? I would Love to visit the boundary waters! Seems like a lot a places that people want to visit are away from home!
I also forgot to add that I took a new hammock user. I set him up in my warbonnet ridgerunner and he LOVED it! We can add another one to the ranks!
Thank you! Yes I’m very lucky!
Yeah it was clear and still that morning! That’s one of my favorite pictures. And to answer your question Hang Williams. We took a truck when we went. We never needed 4wd but it’s gets pretty wash...
I had another great opportunity to get out and visit the Rugged Frank Church Wilderness in Idaho! A friend and I left right after work and arrived at the trailhead at 11pm. It’s a good 2.5 hours...
Great report! I have yet to visit Glacier but it looks worth the drive! Glad you had a good trip.
I heard a quote on time that went like this. “If it’s miserable it’s memorable.” Lol while not all of it was miserable you won’t forget that!
I love camping in the rain! I sleep the best when it’s cool and rainy! Thanks for posting!
If you do get the chance check out the BigHorn Crags as well. They are rugged but amazing as well. Ship Island Lake is way pretty!
Yes it was a great spot! Perfect for looking at the stars. Perfect weather to boot! I love the Sawtooths. I might be biased because I live in Idaho. But is has some AMAZING hiking trails in some of...
I had the time to go on a quick overnighter in the Sawtooth Mountain range. I have been to Imogene lake before but not from Hell Roaring Creek. It is 18 miles in and out. I would highly recommend it...
Following. I have had the same questions!
I think that would be a good idea. I don’t even think you would need anything crazy for material it you braced it at the corners. I don’t know what you were planned but I think 1x1 would be fine. If...
A lot of great advice! I would add Warbonnet makes very nice quilts as well. I have a few and LOVE them. They have the draft collar and sewn foot box if you want them. I also have a hammock gear econ...
Welcome to the forum. Hammock gear make economy versions of their top and under quilts. They are really nice. I use my economy top quilt almost every time I go out. Enjoy the hiking! I hope I’m still...
Thank you everybody. And I will look into the hammock hot tents!
