Yeah it’s neat, I remember my dad using it back in the early 80’s on my first trips. I brought it out of retirement.
I ended up in Kentucky with a few coworkers on a last minute camp. Temps got to 25 degrees overnight but stayed warm. Had a nice fire and even made grilled cheese on my 40+ year old Optimus 8r stove....
I’m intrigued.
Yeah it’s been awhile, was a crazy year last year, I’ve got a 4 month old son now and I’m turning 45 this Sunday. He was a complete surprise to us but he’s perfect. I’ve got my stuff pretty much...
No big deal if you guys can’t make it. If this hang falls through I can stay around here or something.
Don’t necessarily have to do this for march but there are a couple sites in Shawnee that have been used as kinda park n pack. One has a flat 100 -150 yard walk the other is 1 mile with almost no...
3pm works for me.
Zaleski is cool too, I’m good with either one.
Wildcat hollow has a few campsites that are a short distance from the parking, that’s the only thing I can think of that’s not all the way down here in Scioto county.
It’s not an Ohio hang without Hobo.
I’m on the other side of the state so I haven’t been there in a few years, I’m open to other places as well I mentioned Mohican because It seems most people on here are north of Columbus.
I can probably make that , my birthday falls that weekend but nothing is planned as of yet.
Hey y’all it’s been awhile maybe we can plan something, I should have some time in February. I wouldn’t mind getting back up to Mohican again sometime also.
I missed this , haven’t logged on in awhile. How have you been hobo?
Sounds good.
Anything else coming up?
I’ve been out a few times over the summer as well. Getting ready for another bike trip in one more week. If we hear back from some folks then maybe a quick Mohican trip or something in November?
Where is everybody?
Just realized I haven’t checked this site in months. Looking forward to the fall and winter hangs.
There are a few active hangers from n.e. Ohio . We usually try to get together monthly, should be planning for March anytime now.
I actually just bought a new bike that I need to pick up in Akron area but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to make it this weekend or not.
Thanks for checking this out, might be worth looking at.
Has anyone ever checked out the walk-in sites at Scioto trail state park? https://ohiodnr.gov/static/documents/parks/parkmaps/sciototrailcampmap.pdf
I’m good with going back to Mohican if it works for everyone else. Any ideas for the date yet?
I am interested, I think my schedule is pretty clear this month.
I might take you up on that , I’m still deciding on if I’m going to take my mountain bike or not.
I was thinking Friday night but I could do either one.
Welcome! Hope to meet you at the ohio hang in a few weeks.
I think i can do the 18-19th.
I’ve been infringing on your trademark for sometime now.
Come to find out my anniversary is the 13th , forgot about it , I still might try to make Friday night if others go .
I’m in can’t wait , hopefully had my new underquilt finished by then.
Looks like I’m available the first three weekends in December, Friday Saturday Sunday.
It is dispersed camping but with a few rules regarding locations around cliffs . You need a permit to stay overnight available at the gas station in slade Kentucky or the gladie learning center for...
Place must be full of them, I hear coyotes every time I go there. You can add pictures using the little picture icons above the box where you enter text.
Was a great time! Maybe we can get some more people out next month .183206183207183208
I can do that this evening
I haven’t came up with a plan yet for Shawnee, the shortest hike to a camp from the trail head is 4.5 miles ( don’t know if we could make it by dark) . I’ll think some more about it tomorrow and...
Are you going through eastern ky? Red River gorge is cool, short or long loops and lots of camping options. Wayne national forest here in Ohio has some options as well as Shawnee state forest. I live...
Absolutely, let me brainstorm a bit and I’ll let you know. How much walking do you guys want ? Just a little or ? Wildcat or Zaleski might work also.
I’m good for the 13th .
Yeah saw quite a few.
I got some hiking in at the Grayson Highlands two weeks ago so I’m good with a trip. I would go back to also. 183120183121183117
I’m off work Friday Saturdays and Sundays , I have never been to archersfork but we went to wildcat if that’s what you were referring to. I didn’t know about Scioto trail . That’s pretty close for me...
I’m definitely going to get out , not really sure when and where yet.
I’m just across the River in Ohio.
Have you had someone look at it while you are laying in the hammock? Not sure what hammock you are using , how tall you are or how you hang your hammock but I use an incubator with my blackbird and...
I just live near it. Open to other ideas for sure though.
Any interest in a canoe / kayak overnight on the Ohio River ?
