Looks like a Song of the paddle forum group buy hammock and midge net?
I was taught that knot by Mors Kochanski on one of his courses here in the UK a couple of years back, he called it a Jam knot, (no country of origin), and he was of the opinion it was the best knot...
Yeahhh, just got a paypal notification and a tracking number :)
Cheers Kris
I was in Asda today picking up some new fine line sharpies, and I spotted some felt pens for kids, that wash out :D so I may give them a go for marking out.
I agree about the bad back, I made a...
Cheers guys
I like the idea of laying down hardboard sheets, I should be able to clear an area big enough in my livingroom to lay them out, that will also give me a nice surface for measuring and...
I'm starting a new project, making a tarp tent, linky, but I've never tried to mark out and cut such large sections before, the mat'l is lightweight silnylon.
Any advice on how to lay out the...
Come up with a version 2;

I'm restricted somewhat because I don't want to radically change the shape of the midge net,...
I thought about condensation, (especially if I add the floor), I plan to have covered vents either end at the peak,
My initial design was like that Rich, but it was huge. Using my existing setup the hitchcrafts on the ridge line make that ping tight, the dyneema I use is over 1000kg breaking strain, so no worries...
My biggest problem with shortening the "Y" is that it becomes more unstable, ie it rocks more, and I don't like that, at all, I've been looking at making the suspension triangle smaller to fit inside...
It is indeed sketchup I used, its a nice simple system, and fairly easy to master. Brian, both the designs you listed are for gathered end hammocks, Brandons super shelter works well with those, the...
I've just got back from a trip to Loch Sween which is on the west coast of the Kintyre peninsular with a few friends, it was a canoeing camping trip, but had to be cut short due to some pretty nasty...
Opie
Paypal sent, postage is always quite steep, still well worth it.
Cheers mate, I don't envy you the task of sorting all that lot out.
Stephen
Oh it really REALLY helps, cheers mate, appreciate you taking the time to do this.
Stephen
 It saved me buying a bunch of it

Added myself with 100 ft of each colour apart from black and yellow.
Really good of you to do this Opie, hopefully posting to the UK won't bug you too much :D
Stephen
PS I'm also up for...
**** thats impressive, dynaglide is just over half that breaking load which is sk 75 for the sameish dia 1.8 versus 2.0
I don't see how, I use 3mm dinghy dyneema with a hitchcraft (2:1) advantage solid pulley for my tarp suspension, a truckers hitch would serve the same purpose, or maybe a bungee prussik'd somewhere...
Eh? my 4mm stuff is rated to half that, what are you using!
Or marine, a chandlers here will make them for you, I got a set made, but it wasn't cheap. Like I said before I wouldn't say it was cheap unless you already had the Amsteel (sk75), or equiv handy.

Oh very good, cleaning up beer from my keyboard now. I've made a few, you do need a decent fid or equivalent, the single wire fishing leaders make a great draw needle.
To be frank if you buy the...
The BCUK moot is on at the end of this month down in Wales, there are lots of BCUK members who hang, me included. Also if you scroll down to "Meetups and social chatter" you may find there is meetups...
Couldn't have said it better, nicely done :D
Opie the bridge suspension you made for me is awesome, once I get the hammock midge netting sorted I'll post some pics, if it wasn't for the bright...
Hmmm, excellent video, jet lag, what jet lag?
That's done away with the only two problems I really had with the HH, the bottom entry, and subsequent contortions to get into a sleeping bag, and...
I agree Grizz, point loads, ie turning on my side seemed to be my downfall, I guess I loaded one side (head end ) just a tad toooooo much.
Like I said the redesign of the reinforcement should...
Sorry no, the fabric was from a UK kite building site, light weight rip stop was as much detail I received I would imagine it 1.1 oz or less. I weigh less than 12 stone, 168 lbs.
Opie really...
I hate to have to report the demise of my Grizz inspired bridge, I woke up around 2:00 this morning to hear the dreaded ripping noise :scared:, it stopped, and I had time to think "that's not good"...
Looks a lot easier than drawing out a parabola and then trying to sew those tight curves
Ooooh, really nice upgrade to the one I saw at Loch Ken :boggle:, which was in itself really cool. Mine is soooo last year now :(.
How do you find the poly microfibre, I see you finally found a...
Hmmm
I would quite like a set of dynaglide suspension whoopies for my DIY bridge, I weigh less than 12 stone, 168 lbs so no worries on the weight. However I use a fixed length cord attached to...
Got mine today, cheers Opie
Have a blast, Oz is one of my favourite places, pity you aren't doing the east coast, the diving there is amazing.
I wrote a lot about snakes and such, but why put a downer on things, they wont...
Interesting replies, I just recently field test my DIY Bridge, and although as everyone has said it does have its limitations, it is a very comfortable sleeping platform, I also have a mark 2 DD and...
paypal sent including address.
Much appreciated.
Cheers
Stephen
Thanks guys
Grizz it was a fun project, the pad is a Multimat its 12mm thick, my exped down mat is 90 mm thick, if I rolled over in the middle of the night on that I would be in jeopardy of...
I've been working on a bridge hammock design ever since I saw GrizzlyAdams very cool design at a meet at Loch Ken last year, (with Grizz guiding me via pm), I made a full size mock up from some sail...
Its not called Amsteel Blue over here, try SK75, you'll find it mostly in ship chandlers, heres one
As long as you are cool posting to the UK, please put me down for 200 ft of the 2.2 yellow and 1.75 grey
Cheers
Stephen
I agree about the accent at the beginning, totally fooled me, just figured it was an expat. Lovely countryside you live in, and really enjoyed the video. I would imagine if your "brows" ever got...
Mossie or midge tarps seem to be fairly simple in design, here's two

I still use sleeping bags, mostly because I have them already and I have a bag for all seasons, they are all down, and I use them as a quilt in warmer weather, and zip them up when it gets cooler,...
Indeed, while we camped out in an emergency snow shelter, (on a survival course, avatar picture), not only did the ceiling drip on us, it got that warm inside, there was a raging storm outside that...
Thank you all for the kind words, it was one of the best trips this year, hopefully one or two more before January.
Grizz, your welcome anytime.

A friend of mine from England, had discussed a long weekend trip to a part of Scotland I had passed thru but never explored, Loch Sween, which is on the Argyll, Kintyre Peninsular, Jura and Islay is...
Once BCUK is back up, (they are having major problems with their server atm) have a look at the meetings sub-forum, you will find there are quite a few organised regular meets, as well as the ad hoc...
I may have slighty :D exagerated how difficult it is to pack, it does feel like it has a mind of its own sometimes though.
The Rab bag I have is Pertex Quantum Endurance according to the blurb,...
I have a couple of pertex/down sleeping bags, they are very air tight, in fact they can be a serious pain in the rear to get back into their stuff sacks, but it does make them very warm.
I have...
5 bags ordered
