I would be interested in any future plans
Last night I tried out my 0 degree incubator on my ridgerunner for the first time and I got a slightly cold butt. The low was 15 degrees. I think it was the quilt was hanging too low. I connected...
My WP and 0 degree incubator came in! I'm so excited to try it that I am going out tonight to camp in my backyard to try it out. Low is 13 degrees! :) hope all goes well.
I would join you but I already have plans. sorry. This weather sounds awesome though!
I have a KAQ jarbridge uq, a HG phoenix, and a HG incubator. All of them work for my gathered end and bridge. i just add shock cord with a knotted loop on one end and a cord lock on the other end,...
get an underquilt. I have a blackbird and upgraded to a ridgerunner. I prefer the ridgerunner.
I did a google spreadsheet on this
https://hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php/121215-Top-quilt-sleeping-bag-price-fill-temp-weight-spreadsheet-comparison
I have a burrow 0 and a marmot plasma 30 sleeping bag. I use the marmot for late spring early fall and the burrow 0 for winter and early spring late fall.
I have both the warbonnet blackbird and the warbonnet ridgerunner. The blackbird is lighter but I perfer the ridgerunner. The bridge hammock is more comfortable and i never get a calf ridge. There is...
So a friend of mine wanted to buy a 3 season sleeping back for backpacking. So I created a spreadsheet that compares lightweight/ultralightweight sleeping bags and quilts. I listed the link to the...
I brought my RR to the NJ hang if you were there.
Hey another MD hanger! welcome!
Annyeong-haseo! Welcome from Maryland! I plan on visiting Seoul in a few years to visit my girlfriend's family and eat some awesome korean bbq! mmmm I love bulgogi and galbi!
Anyone down for camping next weekend feb 5-7th?
I thought I would hang in my backyard, but I'm deciding not to. It's the high winds that scares me.
I'll be canceling on the trip, but will set up in my backyard while we have a blizzard here. Hope the neighbors don't mind
Not 100% sure but I think the park doesn't want you to bring outside firewood for infestation issues.
Thanks. Yeah unless I can find someone in the northern va/ MD area who has AWD who I can carpool with, I might have to sit this one out. :( I don't feel like getting stuck on the road in a 2wd car
Is there anyone i can carpool with, even part way (I would gladly help pay for gas)? I am coming from Maryland and only have a 2WD car. Not sure if that can make it if it snows really bad.
Excited to upgrade from my 20 degree phoenix and regular CF with doors!
My girlfriend couldn't make it so we decided to camp at the group camp site this past weekend. It got down to 7 degrees and snowed for 2 days. It was her first time winter camping but did great! I'll...

For my tarp. I use a cuben fiber tarp so i dont have to worry about elastic tensioners. I have a prussic knot on each of my 4 corners of my tarp with a loop on one end of the load line (for the stake...
I use a bear bag for my food and hang that away from me. I use polycryo for a small ground sheet and put my pack on it which also has a pack cover on it. I then put my shoes in a plastic grocery bag.

Only thing I can think of that is for a single person laying lengthwise in a bidge-like hammock with less material would be something like this...
I think you are looking for this. (Note, I have the ridgerunner and never have tried/seen the evrgrn hammock.) Looks like the negative reviews/rates came from people trying to sleep in the hammock...
Glad you are going with double layered. Even though it I am in the weight range of a single layer and double layer weighs more, I always go with double layer. The 2nd layer makes it harder for bugs...
Man! I wish i could have made it out!
Woohoo! I got the go ahead from the girlfriend that I can make this trip! :D First time ever going to Mt. Rogers!
I agree. I would go with a 40-50 degree synthetic full length underquilt.
The hammock I would choose is the warbonnet ridge runner that is double layered. That way if you take off the underquilt,...
I wish I could make it out this this! I have other plans I have to attend on saturday. Next time Ill be there! Always love winter backpacking trips
I added five 2 inch velcro strips on each door for my HG standard with doors. It works for me! I just got back from a trip where it snowed and I had sheets of ice on my trap. The velcro held. It'll...

Count me in!
Woooo budddyyy!!!!
Ha-ha sadly yes I am aware. But that does mean I won't need a top quilt or possibly under quilt. I feel bad for my friends in the tents, at least I'll have a cool breeze in the hammock
going on a short backpacking trip to maryland's green ridge state forest. Going with a few friends. I know hardly any trips in Maryland are posted, so I figured I'd post one. If you are interested in...
this thread makes me feel better. I thought I had a problem at 3 hammocks.

I am interested in how to get my quadcopter authorized for national parks as well!
I love that America is so diverse. You have mountains, beaches, forests. You have people of all nationalities. You have so much opportunity! It's great!
a continuous ridgeline with 2 prussics allow you to center your tarp much easier than a guy line off each end of the superfly. But if you use 2 guy lines, it is lighter weight since you need 11 feet...
I use 34 feet of zing it for a continuous ridge line for the tarp. I attach 2 prussics on it along with one dutch fly. Then for the each of the 4 corners, I clove hitch 6-7 feet of zing it to a piece...
