I got the Acu Rite for Christmas, but I'm not so sure about this design. The battery tray doesn't actually fully close. What's up with that? Is this the way it is designed or do I have a dud?

Smoke cigars in the hammock all the time. No smell to speak of, which I attribute to being outside. The smoke just drifts up,up, and away.
