I second the Cush, except I do use it under my head. I, too, am a side sleeper, and it allows me to make it more adjustable as I need it. Plus mine packs down really small and I have a tiny DCF stuff...

I have a rolled hem foot for my machine. It's a little tricky to get started, but once it's going, it's pretty easy.
