I'm curious what you choose to hike? I'm heading out in a couple weeks. It seems four pass loop conditions are not favorable this year, so I'm looking for alternatives.
Welcome! I'll be in your state tonight. We are hiking the Maroon Bells loop, with hammocks of course.

I use a zpack 50L pack with Cuban fiber liner. I always stuff my quilts in the pack first and let everything else sit on top compress them.as needed. I usually put food in last. Everything stays...
Just saw (and purchased) a Saver Series from locolibregear that was in stock.
Going to Colorado in 2 weeks and need a little warmer top quilt. Not enough time to order from our vendors :(
I'm headed there in two weeks for the first time too to hike with my son. No advice to offer, but interested in what folks have to say.

Hi Everyone,
I'm going to visit my son in Denver over labor weekend. We are thinking about hiking the Four pass hike in Aspen. It looks beautiful. We will probably leave Denver Thursday night...
Nice! I'll have to give this a try!

I've used Joyce and Sally a few times. They were very accommodating and reasonable

Right now my 40 degree tq is unsnapped and hanging out on our sofa. Wife and I share on those cold nights.
I.prefer to keep mine a slight looser then pull tight by bringing the guy lines tight. Gives a slight curve to the top.
Someone else will have a better answer but I'll give my perspective.
This is not an exact science. To you and under your conditions a 20 degree quilt may or may not keep you warm at 20 degrees. ...
Last time (only time) I was there earlier this summer a couple MPs walked through. They just said hi and hiked on up the trail.
RATS - I just missed the sale. I was about to order a Burrow 20 & Phoenix 20, but the coupon expired yesterday.
I have used 1/2" mule tape, but stopped. I noticed it was damaging trees. I weigh a little more than you guys though (260)
You rock. Thank you!
@sgt rock - what is the grappler you speak of in your video and use to connect your straps around the tree? Does it happen to be this?
...
Ordered mine along with a wallet.
Yea, I just came back from 4 days on the at. It is so hot and muggy.
BTW the trail to the west is visible on I'm google maps and pretty accurate. I found this helpful in the couple places where it is hard to see the trail. I did have a local warn me about parking...
It was about $12 when we were there a couple months ago.
My son and I camped there at the end of April - nice spot. The ticks and spiders were out in full force though. It sure was hot hiking up from Juniper Springs during the day - even then! This past...
I just received mine and tried it out last weekend. I like it, but it was very tight. I was wishing for an extra couple inches of on the length.
Good idea. I'll have to experiment with this.
Thanks, Shug. I missed that video. It looks like the suspension in your video is much looser than what I have. When I originally received the...
For what it's worth I didn't use the quilt bags in this last trip. I just stuffed them into my dry bag on the bottom with clothes and hammock on top, followed by food and other items. I'll say this...
Ps there were 7 other people the morning we went on a weekday.
She recommends secretly island by chinamans hat. If you like to snorkel the northeast shore is really good area. Prob not as good for surfing there. I assume you'll have a car. Here are the pics she...
Yeah - I have the 20 phoenix and 40 burrow. Not as warm as I was hoping either. But I think my issue is that my underquilt is sliding all over the place. They are very well made though.
I tried my HG Phoenix with my XLC this past weekend on the Florida trail and was really frustrated with the experience. Previously, I have been using the Dutch PolyD hammock (58" wide) with the 44"...
I'll ask my daughter as she lives there with my son-in-law. He is in charge of the MP's at Hale Koa. When we went to visit them in December there is a park close to them right on the beach that...
Great perspective and advice. Thank you!
Just to give you a visual, the one one the left is my Dutch Polyd setup with the winter sock stuffed in there. The one in the right is the wbbb xlc 1.7 dl And sure dream hammock or others can make...
I can't really understand all the fanciness with these adjustable ridge lines. There is a much simpler method. Just use a single length of amsteel with a loop in one side. You can do a locked...
I'm a pretty new hammocker, but I already own several options. Dutch, Warbonnet, etc. After a week on the AT, I found that I did not like the whoopie suspension at all. Before you buy, check your...
I am 6'0 260lbs. For lightweight backpacking I use dutch 11' PolyD & bugnet. I sprung for a hammock gear under quilt and top quilt. I have both a HG standard cuban and toxaway tarp. Even with the...
I attach mine directly to the continuous loops on the hammock.
Thanks for this. I ordered some mule tape to try this method. This seems like the ideal solution...no hardware...easy to adjust...maximum adjustability for both tree diameter and distance between...
Quick follow-up to the mule straps. I think a couple of you are basically using a system with short 4' tree huggers, and using Amsteel in a manor similar to the use of mule tape in this video. That...
That looks awesome - first time I've seen this. They seem to make mule tape in 3/4" width (2500 lb strength) also. Or maybe going with a long length of dutch kevlar straps would do the same thing....
I have the winter version and like it. I don't think I'd like the summer version though due to the way it slides over the hammock. I think a fronkey style would be better for summer, but I haven't...
Bummer that this didn't work out. After using whoopies for a week on the AT I don't really like them and looking for an alternative. Check out this video - why don't folks use this method? Seems...
I put a climbers ring on one of my continuous loops, then used a length of amsteel with a fixed loop on one side. I used the end without a loop to make my ridgeline adjustable by tying on the ring.
Nice - congrats. I'm enjoying my 40-degree wide.
Anyone get any news on supply of camo cuban material?
Not the ends - definitely the primary. For the sake of completeness, I brought out my WBBB XLC. The quilt is much looser on that hammock. Even with the extra 18" of shock cord, it isn't too...
Its the primary that was way too tight. I just spliced 18" of shock cord to the primary. It is still tight, but much better. I think that's close enough now to do the trick.
I just received my Phoenix & thought something was wrong. I am hanging it on a 11' dutch hammock with 111" SRL. The Phoenix primary suspension is really tight. Too tight. Uncomfortable tight when...
I'm 6' and 260lbs (athletic build of course :). I have WBBB XLC DL, the Dutch argon single, and Dutch PolyD. All seem to work just fine. I do get a bit of stretch with the argon though. Even so,...
Sounds like a couple of you received the last of the cuban camo stock. I received confirmation today that they are out of of this material. Waiting on my camo tarp standard - ordered 2/27. Fingers...
