Cinch buckle wearing on webbing

I am seeing wear on my webbing from the cinch buckles on my Envy-S hammock. I have attached a pic. I assume this amount of wear is not normal. The hammock has been used 9 or 10 times in the last 3 months. The hammock came with the CBs installed. I have seen this issue talked about with other brands. I am not sure what brand of CB is used on the Hammeck hammocks. Hammeck did a great job of ensuring there are enough wraps on the larks head to keep the CBs straight. Even so, I am very careful to make sure the buckle stays straight when threaded and put under load. At first I thought it was due to the half hitch I was putting in the webbing to make sure it didn't slip. Lately I have been running the free end of the webbing back parallel to the strap under load to make sure it doesn't kink.

Is the this wear normal? If not, could the webbing be at fault? Maybe try a better webbing? Should I replace the CBs with a different brand? I have whoopies on my other hammock, but I really like the CB's ease of use. I don't like the idea of replacing them every few months however. I know many use CBs without any problems. Any suggestions?

I would think you need a better grade of strap to be honest.The Mecks probably got thier cinch buckles from Dutch and i have never had an issue with Dutch's buckles ever!!

Normal wear....maybe not.

If the webbing is soft then it is more subject to wear like that in the picture. Also if the bar on the cinch buckle gets off center then could also cause wear from where it pinches the webbing.

I find a stiff webbing does not wear as fast as softer webbing.

Thanks guys. I will keep an eye on them for now. These are pretty soft. I am going to look at getting some stiffer straps soon. I have a couple sets of short tree straps I can use when on the stand.

The tree straps from Warbonnet are definitely stiffer than most. I do like my new hybrid Dutch straps though :)

yup. nice and light.

I'm using Harbor Freight straps where I cut the metal latch off of it. Rated at 1200lbs. Between camp trips and back yard hangs I am looking at maybe a dozen times and no wear at all. But I do take care to assure that the straps are seated properly at the buckle. Mine are a stiff material if that helps.

I have been using BlackBirds for about 6 years and only of the straps is showing some wear.
