Down storage
How do most of you store your down items? Is it really necessary to hang your down under quilts and such? I don't have a lot of room to have a bunch of stuff just hanging around, but I don't want to ruin the lofting capability by keeping my UQ in it's stuff sack. Is that really an issue?

At least put it in an inexpensive king size cotton pillow case so it can breath.... I don't hang my quilts either as I don't have the room but do store them in large breathable sacks...

Mine is opened up under our bed. I don't have anywhere to hang it.

i hang all mine and occasionally flip/rotate them if i haven't used a quilt in a while.

All good advice. You could move your clothes to a dresser to make room in the closet.:D

Mine are in big hockey bags so as to not really smash them so much as to really keep them under control.

Hang some but cotton pillow cases for me as well.

usually hang mine in the closet or in my basement above my gear table. I have stored them in the past in mesh laundry bags as well.
Personally, I spent too much money on my insulation to test how long term compressed storage will affect them. But you also don't have to handle it with kit gloves either, it's outdoor gear.
I'd follow others advice and just make sure you let it breathe

my North face bag has been stored loosely in a large plastic tub and is in the 80% mesh/ 20% fabric bag. Others are stored in large bags.

mine are spread out in a corner of my bedroom. There's a rocker chair somewhere under them!! Mine are only compressed when I'm using it and it's in my backpack.
