I recently picked up a 1.0 momolite netless hammock that breaks the scales at 12.3 oz. I'd like to stay as light as possible with this rig. I thought about staying with monolite in the same color as a bug net which would look great but I'm not sure that's the best way to go. how durable is no-seeum 0.5?
I made a Fronkey-style bugnet out of RipstopByTheRoll's NS50 Noseeum mesh ... (looking it up) ... 4-ish years ago. It has held up well. No actual holes, though I did snag it on greenbrier in one spot so the weave shows some irregularity. The stitching and weave have held up despite being stressed in a few places due to less-than-ideal hangs.
I used the thinnest shock cord and tiniest cord lock (both I think from Zpacks?) for the bottom entry.

If I had to do it again, I would go ahead and close both ends -- there are enough tiny critters around where I usually camp that I've never not used the bugnet. The open end stays sealed over my hammock OK, as long as the hang is just right, but it can gap if not.
I have found that no shock cord or lock is necessary. Mine hangs nearly to the ground and mosquitoes don’t go down to go up in the net (it is lighter and so much easier to get out). I used permethrin just in case. I also used a small hole for the suspension on each end so I don’t need any closure hardware. I use a slug and leave the whol system together for storage so assembly is not an issue.
I made a bottom entry similar to SLD with an open end that closes with mini cord and cord lock, open bottom with thinnest shock cord and whatever cord lock will fit. Hand sewn (ugly) and the parts with channels wouldn’t stand up to a lot of abuse (no reinforcing grosgrain or anything). It’s less breathable than my WB bug net, so ventilation is more important. Saves a few ounces and not real concerned w durability
