I’m on the road, should be there around 6:45.
So nice to have been able to stop by for a visit tonight (friday) and see old friends and meet a couple of new ones. Kutter (Tom Pelikan)
Per the discussion regarding propane vs butane: https://campingsecrets.co.uk/butane-vs-propane/
My wife got me a shirt that says, "I'm an engineer. To save time just assume I'm always right". :-)
The exception that proves the rule: I stated that propane has a higher energy content than butane. That is incorrect. However, propane does have a lower boiling point than butane (-42C vs -1C). An isomer of butane, isobutane, has a boiling point of -12C. Sometimes, propane and butane are mixed resulting in a boiling point roughly the average of the two.

Sure was great seeing everyone again and getting to meet Anioutdoors and Ginger! The pup and I (and my niece!) had a great time, even though we didn’t make it all the way to the top. I hate it that we missed out sitting around the campfire Saturday night. Friday night’s campfire was fun! And now I have two new YouTube channels on my list to get addicted to!
NEXT year, I plan on not missing the second night of group hanging because this pup will be big enough to handle a full trail! (My daughter came over last night to see the puppy—not her dad and I!—and exclaimed reproachfully, “Mom! His little toe beans aren’t soft and smooth any more!” Sure enough, his paw pads were tough and rough. He has trail calluses and he had a blast getting them!
My daughter, Rayna, plans to make it next year and I’ll KNOW next year to bring an extra backpack with everything needed to sleep comfortably through the night for my niece, rather than taking her at her word that she has proper gear. Poor girl froze on the ground Friday night! She’s already talking about coming back next year with Rayna and I, though! (Rayna had to work this year. Kids grow up and get all responsible on you—like holding down a job to get through college, rather than bumming around hiking with you!)
I’m already craving campfire chili and jalapeño poppers again!!!
