AMOK Draumr XL Thread ~ 2018 & Drinking the Kool-Aid Again

At a little over 6'1" I have a problem with the 3.0’s length and bug net. I found myself getting mozzy bites on my face. My pillow would shift during the night and allow the bug net to fall on my face. I even thought about making a small hoop accessory out of a tent pole to keep the net up. It sounds like the XL will fix those issues for me. I also really like the idea of having the ridgeline inside the bugnet. I can hang mysmall fan from the line. This would be my car camping rig after all.

It is a very good deal. I just need to pick a color. I have the 3.0 in red so I am leaning toward green.

I have the green as well. I like it with the trees, debating between that and the blue. Anyone who has seen both colors have an opinion?

I have the 3.0 at at 6'2", 260lb I had a feeling it might be too small but thought I'd try it anyway because it's just so unique (and I was not aware of the XL at the time).
Turns out it was indeed too small for my liking and I didn't like the footbox and had trouble getting comfortable initially but I did sleep all night in it just fine.

So I'll probably preorder the XL with the mat also.

Course, I just received my Tensa4 V2 so I'll need to see if the Draumr works with it. I'm guessing it's unlikely but I'll try it out sometime.

there's 1 or 2 folks who use the tensa4 with an amok just fine.

I was skeptical too, but pictures were posted


I made a tensa from 2x2s and thru 100% user error kicked one of the poles and collapsed it spectacularly.

Just drank the XL Kool-Aid in green.

Funny, the only collapse I have ha with my Hammeck stand was with my 3.0. It was totally my fault. I had the legs too close together. I pushed a bit too far back when getting in. Once I lifted my legs, the hammock swung forward and crash, everything came down. Keep the legs spread wide for these perpendicular style hammocks.

That's exactly what I did. Except when you come forward in an amok in a tensa you come right at the legs
