Speer Hammock Tarp
I've got a friend that lives near Frostproof who's tarp hunting and I spotted this on Craigslist:

Can anyone point me towards some more info or reviews on this tarp? Maybe the seller is here on the forums?

That's funny, I thought the ad meant that the tarp was nearly frostproof, and was wondering why the heck that would be a selling point.
I believe this should be very similar to the JRB 8x10 tarp. Note the warning regarding sunlight on the JRB description; obviously this tarp has some age to it.
EDIT: my guess is that the Speer tarp was of lighter weight than the "Egret" sold on JRB, so better material, yet probably even more susceptible to age and conditions.

Yeah, the age was kind of the concern. I don't know when the "Speer" branded tarps were in existence (if it's the genuine article). My silnylon products have held up pretty well over time but I've got several friends with Big Agnes tents that have all disintegrated with age. The fabric coating started peeling up in little pellets like a bad sunburn. I wonder what the lifespan for silnylon is so long as you keep it out of the sun and store it dry?
