Adding drip lines/water break to webbing with becket hitch

I've recently switched from using whoopies with the Dutch hooks to just 15' tree straps and a becket hitch directly to the CL's on my Chameleon. I find setup and takedown to be ridiculously easy and fast with this method - however, I've yet to experience a heavy downpour with this setup and I'm a bit concerned that the knot won't provide enough of a water break to keep water from wicking directly into my hammock and UQ. Any suggestions as to adding drip lines or an additional water break to this setup without adding too much complication to the suspension?

The knot is better then any drip line you can use

I have some cotton string... maybe 6" long 1/8" diameter that I tie onto my continuous loops.

In the event that water does get that far, the cotton is more absorbent than the Amsteel- so the water is wicked and drips down.

Thank you! I'm sure I've got some cotton string around here somewhere. I knew it had to be something simple and elegant.

I was hoping that was the case, but I had heard things to the contrary and didn't want to find out the hard way! "Be prepared" is the watchword of the Scout, after all.

I agree with adding a shoe lace.
It’s also a good idea it put some twists in the strap coming from the tree to the hammock. That will shed a lot of the water.

++1 on the strap twist trick.

Discovered that one accidentally during a downpour when my drip line wasn’t cutting it.
Rain has a hard time going uphill! :).

If I ever need them I would just cut strips off the piece of knock-off ShamWow I carry for a camp towel. Nice for wiping a damp tarp down as well. Twisting your straps is great advice. Every little bit helps and that helps a lot.
