Hello from the Sierras
Hey all,
I live in a small town in the Sierra Nevadas, basically halfway between Tahoe and Yosemite. I just made my first hammock from a kit from Ripstop by the Roll and I'm excited to give it a try come spring. I joined to learn some more as I just got some cheap daisy chain straps and some climbing rated carabiners to hang with. I've been backpacking since 2002 when I went on an Outward Bound trip with my dad in the Bitterroots (Montana). I've heard a lot about this forum over the years and finally thought I'd join and check things out. I look forward to learning from you guys and hopefully being able to contribute some of my knowledge.
Nice to meet you guys!

Hello and welcome from Northern Utah! I hope to be camping in your area this summer.

Welcome to the party! You have so much excellent backpacking territory in your back yard, I'm sure you'll enjoy your hammock. One word of caution though, if you didn't build your hammock with a bugnet, you may want to invest a fronkey-style or bottom-entry bugnet. The skeeters are FIERCE in that area, depending on what time of year you hike in!

Was in your area this past spring on my PCT LASH, was one of my favorite sections. Good hammocking too, if you have 15’ straps! The pines are huge.
Welcome to the forum.
