Nice! I'm going to be like you this next hang and do more hiking/exploring during the day. I was kinda a wimp and hung out mostly in camp. :( :D

I'm planning on bringing my X country skis this time.
Nice, hopefully we get great snow!!
This will be my first time attending the Wisconsin FBH and I am really looking forward to it. In southern Indiana the snow doesn't usually stick around very long, so I am hoping to see a lot of it.
I'll be there, too. Very much looking forward to this trip!

This will be my first time attending this hang, so after some research I have a few questions. First is about water. Do you cut a hole in the ice for lake water, use lake ice, or melt snow? Or is there a spring nearby? Do we each treat our own, or is there a large water pot on the fire?
Also, videos show a lot of food being prepared...Is there an organized potluck meal, or does everyone cook their own, maybe sharing occasionally?
I've been to a number of group hangs over the years including Mt Rogers (with 60 mph wind, 2 ft of snow, and temps to -2); is there anything different about this hang I should know?
Thanks!
Scott

There will be 2 or 3 big pots boiling for water at all times. Yes we cut a hole in the lake for water to boil. Last year I brought back half of my food that I brought with because a lot of meals are passed around. There is a Google spreadsheet you can sign up on. Last year we were the 1st ones to break trail and it was a little over a mile hike in on the trail.Bringing snowshoes this time and a sled.
Cool, thanks!

If anyone has not signed up on the spreadsheet or visited the event page on the website nowoutdoors.org please take a look. I was up north this past weekend setting up. There was maybe 10 inches of snow on the ground and a very ice parking lot. We built a large tripod out there hidden maybe 50 feet past the campfire ring. I will have 2 12 quart pots and at least 1 large kettle for group water. this call all be hung on the tripod. There is also a grill grate out there already.
